Facebook to pay more than $14 million in Justice Dept. settlement over discrimination against American workers

Surely these were jobs that Americans didn’t want to do anyway, right? :man_shrugging:

Shame that it’s really just a slap on the wrist. They still don’t even know who’s getting compensated yet.

It’s been SOP for years. Even Trump cracking down on it didn’t really make a difference.

"The Trump administration is stepping up its scrutiny of the country’s H-1B work visa program, demanding supporting evidence and rejecting applications at a higher rate among a number of major companies, according to government data released late last week.

The new scrutiny hasn’t fazed Silicon Valley’s tech giants, all of whom saw 98 percent or more of their H-1B visa applications approved last year."

Just another symptom of the best government money can buy. Intel has been lobbying every year to allow more and more H1B workers because they “can’t find qualified workers” here for what little pay they’re offering them. Foreigners on the other hand…

But hey, it’s cute that you think this is important now that a company you don’t like is doing it. That’s cool I guess.

If you think big tech are hiring workers from socialist-programmed populations because they are cheaper, you are naive. It’s part of an electorate-management programme to introduce more Democrat-favourable voters into the system.

Like India? You need to get a grip dude.

Years ago I worked worked with a fellow auditor who had previously been in engineering. He said that employers were hiring engineering graduates from India who could afford to work cheaper. One reason was their engineering schools didn’t put them all in to debt, so they didn’t have school loans that had to be paid back.

It’s all a pay-to-play racket here. These suckers are expensive.

Thank you for this…

This post shows that it is possible to win a case when a company discriminated against US citizens which include White people.

Here I thought white people, specifically white men, were not eligible for civil rights violations.

Also, I was unaware that this law existed (requiring companies to find talent in the US first). That is great!

All of us can see plainly that Zuckerberg said " ■■■■ you United States" so…will Facebook be cancelled?

2600 is around 5% of their total employees. They have given the US plenty. Made a bunch of millionaires too.

They supposed to they don’t. Especially the bigger companies they post ads but outside maybe 10-20% in IT they go straight to hiring the developer from India at 40k a head with no benefits they pay the offshore ones way less than that.

This was the one executive order Trump wrote that I wish Biden wouldn’t have ripped up.

Roughly $15 million out of a company worth nearly a trillion dollars. Yeah, that will show them.

I along a few others on here are in the IT industry I worked at a fortune 100 company for close to 8 years this was our lunch hall in a building that had 30 + floors and more than 30 locations.

Some will look at these pics as diversity but there is no diversity in the big companies for software developers there almost exclusively Indian and I was the technical interviewer on at least 50-75 different Americans trying to get in that company many were qualified only a few got in for what they could pay someone from India to do the job for.

Which party does Big Tech support with cash and controlled propaganda? That’s probably the one executive order they would absolutely tear up.

Both parties are owned by the big corps. Who are you kidding?

Yup…

Sadly, the fine will not change anything.

Much like when Walmart hired a contractor for janitorial services, who had hired undocumented workers…they paid a fine…that was a tiny drop in their profit dollar bucket.

Yeah. Big Tech like Twitter and Google and Facebook are not biased towards one party.
Who are you kidding?
I would have no problem admitting Big Oil favors Republicans.

Facebook is toxic. It needs to be broken up, and/or regulations to curb their profit motives that are a danger to societies…it is worse in other countries. We actually get the “better” FB

Read the book “Zucked”. It was…eye opening.

Who gets the money?

Party has nothing to do with it. If the Republicans made policy that makes big tech money, they’d jump ship in thirty seconds flat. Corporations aren’t loyal to any party other than money.
