The first question is obvious. Beto doesnāt want an election to be about what he did as a teenager.
Second question was already answered. Betoās interview was contingent on holding the story.
The author of the article (and upcoming book) didnāt say that, an ethics professor he called for a quote did.
The āShe saidā¦ā part should have given that away.

Yep, its not an important story like the one in the Washington Post during the 2012 election about how Romney pranked someone when he was 16 by cutting their hair.

Neither story is āimportantā, in any sense of the word.
But Iād much rather vote for a guy who was a hacker in high school than a guy who was a bully in high school.
