Im pretty certain NATO won’t just sit back tho if there is a full scale invasion. I don’t know what they would do but Id be surprised if it was just sanctions and arms to rebels.

Even sanctions would be problematic, and useless.
Say what you will about Putin, but he had the same insight as OBL: the US has fractures that are easy to exploit. Why would Russia swallow Ukraine whole when it can just do a regime change, dare the US to be hypocritical about it, and then reach a similar accord with the new ‘legitimate’ government as it has with Byelorus?
So what…European “EU” should form their own defense then.

And we are not obligated to defend Ukraine. If Europe wants Ukraine as EU member then we should be defending EU.

Biden probably actually means to stop Putin. US polling would show not to start a conflict over Ukraine; it definitely doesn’t show anything like a ‘wag the dog’ distraction type of outcome.

No, this is never as simple as you think it is. Brussels, for all its flaws, has a clear sense of its natural limit. There is no will among the northern countries to absorb more developmentally troubled regions, and no will to add capital flight zones among the southern ones still trying to find a solution to ‘everyone else’ serving as export zones for German overproduction.
The US that leaves Europe ‘alone’ becomes a self-devouring Fortress America.
I don’t think anyone, including Biden, knows what Biden means to do.
