Eurasian eagle owl at Minnesota Zoo flies away from handler, is eaten by tiger

This happened in April, but was only recently reported by the USDA.

Perhaps it would be better to conduct flight training away from predatory enclosures. Unfortunately, the poor thing chose to land in the tiger exhibit and became lunch.

Not been a good year for Eurasian Eagle Owls in general, with Flacco the Owl being poisoned to death in Central Park earlier this year.

you would think that people who run the place would keep the birds and cats on different sides of the zoo…

Here’s a fun compilation of cats catching birds.

Talk about a situation that ended poorly.

Thanks, Walz.

You’d think Harris would have vetted him better…

This reminds me of the old “urban legend” about a killer whale eating a sea otter soon after the otter was released into the ocean. Who would think that could ever happen?
