Elon Musk slams Trump's "big, beautiful bill" as "disgusting abomination"

So far.

seven percent is no small potatoes
If we assume inflation at 2-3% then a 7% cut is like a 10% cut.

That is 10% in all real estate expense
10% in all gov’t salaries including military
10% in all highway contracts etc,(many of whicn legally cannot be cut but perhaps cancelled)

Anyway since he did not even put the DOGE cuts up for a vote . . .

…and they are rehiring a lot of the people they cut…

But it will not happen under any bill that the president has put forth. . . . so far!

However, the Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment, if adopted, would actually make every State’s Congressional Delegation immediately accountable to their own State Legislature if they decided to borrow to meet expenses during the course of a fiscal year.

Seems that neither Musk, Trump or Speaker Johnson embraces the accountability which the Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment would bring. Why?

There’s nothing stopping further bills after the BBB from cutting more stuff. (Other than our dysfunctional government, of course.)

How old are you?
gullibility test

This government dysfunction started to show its ugly head in a very significant way in the 1980s when Congress dreamed up a number of phony balanced budget amendments, each of which would have, if adopted, made if constitutional for Congress to not balance the budget. What is you point in asking one’s age?

Trump has done things no other president has accomplished before.

Certainly I do not EXPECT what I suggested. But this is the era of Trump. Anything is possible.

I will be very happy if he puts those matters,
especially the proposed DOGE cuts, up for a vote.

I do not expect that to happen.

I do not claim to understand political horse trading as well as I understand some things, but I believe putting those cuts up for a vote is necessary not only in its own right, but also as a predecessor to making the deep and painful cuts we need to make.

As far as I am concerned, they MUST be put up to vote. I’m with you.

Trump can’t make Congress do that. He can use the bully pulpit and pressure Congress into it. Maybe he might succeed at that. (And that’s what I was referring to earlier about additional bills.)

Without Congressional adoption of DOGE cuts, that whole effort will have been an astronomical waste.

Oh I have a feeling that if we both look at reality we will both realize rump is capabale of asking someone to put a bill in the hopper and that perosn would do it.

"He can’t do it himself he’d have to pick up the phone is as silly and tangential as saying “I can’t schedule a doctors appointment. I need someon ontnhe otherend to agree to it.” Or “I can’t get the sink fixed because that requires calling a plumber.” (amounts to silly word games.)

Smart thing to do.
If something does not work for your bussiness for a loooooong time you start all over again by taking your losses and starting a new.
So…yes, you spend and it will cost you but the only other alternative is to continue to a certain crash and lose everything.

He is not starting anew. He is continuing the same trend of his predecessors. You are defending something rather blindly.
