Congress is acting in rebellion to our Constitution and its defined and limited grants of power for which Congress may lay and collected taxes. And this is exhibited in its “pork-filled” spending items, not found in the list of particulars listed beneath Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1, for which Congress may lawfully lay and collect taxes.
I’ve always said that politicians in both parties talk about fiscal responsibility until they get elected, then they drop it like a hot potato. Spending is how politicians express their power, and no one willingly gives up power.
Based on history… we would have a better chance at reducing the deficit. But Dems would not reduce spending… they would however raise taxes on high income earners and corporations.
Our founders understood human nature which you aptly point out, and that is why they created the tax plan they did which provides a specific procedure if Congress were to spend more than was brought in from imposts, duties and excise taxes. That procedure is found in the Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment which, if enacted, would return us to our Constitution’s original tax plan making every State’s Congressional Delegation immediately accountable to their State’s Legislature if they spent more than was brought in from imposts, duties and excise taxes, which then would require them to bring home a bill for their State’s Legislature to pay an apportioned share to extinguish the deficit our of their own State’s Treasury.
Looks like Musk never got any of the goodies he thought he was going to get or Trump promised him.
Only my opinion but its looking like Musk got played by Trump. Musk’s social awkwardness and always been on the fringe is what Trump played on. Suddenly Musk found himself popular, he had a legion of fans and he dipped deep into his own pockets after been schmoozed by Trump.
This is not me dissing on Trump. Everyone knows he has zero loyalty to anyone but himself, he used Musk until he was no longer useful. The whole 130 day time limit was perfect for Trump.
