If you are going to quote the Monty Python “Argument” sketch at least quote them. If you have any respect for markets you would respect intellectual property" And that way it would be easier to see your shift from political discussion to sketch comedy.

Reality isn’t SCARY. It is the nature of Democrats to affix taxation. An losing an argument based on hopes, lies and BS is the last thing I would ever be “fearful” of.

As so often is the case in the forums, when a Trump supporter runs out of arguments, they fall back on insults as the only thing they have to bring to the conversation – so much like Donald himself. So instead of acknowledging the point that there is no taxation in Warren’s proposal out comes “lies and BS.” So another Trump supporter holding to an indefensible position by slinging nasty words.

It happens all too often around here. Have a great weekend, hope you’re not in the heat wave.

Thanks, it is sweltering here in the Peoples Republic of MD; have a cool weekend yourself and thanks for the lively discussion. While I admire your sincerity remember, Ms.Warren is a seasoned politician and pardon my skepticism, any “proposals” will likely take on a life of their own once legislation is tabled in the House then the Senate. Promises of “no taxes”? I stopped believing what politicians say when LBJ started pilfering the Social Security gold mine to fund his “Great Society”.
Trump supporter? Well, my market based retirement investment portfolio has been performing quite well.
I hope he wins 4 more years, the sheet storm he’s created so far has at least been entertaining you’d have to admit. One thing for sure the Prez isn’t a politician, doesn’t even pretend to be.

Sweltering in New York as well of course. I fear I’ll bring the wrath of half the board down on me if I mention this, but my wife just took three refugee children who live in a sh*thole American apartment to our pool to cool off. Made them very happy.

Actually, Professor Warren is fairly new to politics, not as new as Trump but hardly a lifelong career hack like Biden.

I don’t trust politicians much either, but I have to admit it was fun to stir the pot by tossing in Warren’s market-solution and watching the feathers fly. The lines that most folks adhere to here are far too rigid. All the talk of socialism around here is such nonsense.

I retired, sort of, founded an AI company with a few retired friends for fun and now find it is doing so well it is really cutting into my retirement time. But where else can a bunch of old farts create eight figures of market value in a year out of the ideas in their heads and their rolodexes. I love markets… when they operate fairly. I’m hoping we can sell it within two more years.

My portfolio has also risen steadily since the 2008 collapse reversed around two years into Obama’s Presidency… so much that I am seriously contemplating moving the stock portion into cash for a few years… less anxiety about the debt ceiling, war with Iran… that stuff.

Is Trump a politician? His knowledge of government process, policy and issues is near nil, but he seems the sort of consulate organization politician I interacted with for many decades… very clear and very driven… very political.

I don’t find Trump entertaining. I believe he appeals to the worst elements of the human soul: fear and anger above all else and I worry how that scars the national soul.

Stay hydrated and try to stay comfortable.

So once the government intrudes its a green light to intrude as much as they want? That’s pathetic.

Only if you believe the government is all-powerful ,which is fairly naive. Quite a few government officials understand the limits of their roles… .and besides they can never move into high paying industry or lobbying jobs if they operate too heavy handedly while in government. Besides, since Citizen’s United gave corporations unlimited access to purchase politicians obviously corporations have the ability to constrain the intrusion. There are areas of business where government sets up the standards: audit & reporting; contract enforcement, patents… for instances.

Tell us how the market can operate those functions by itself. I’m fascinated by how you would make that work.

Since when is describing a proposed action by a politician akin to fascism calling someone names? When the government establishes the business plan for a company, that is fascism. Its not an insult, its simply a fact. And calling such a plan “market based capitalism” is most definitely akin to the language used in Orwell’s book “1984” and thus is appropriately described as “Orwellspeak.” But I understand why you want to make the discussion about my choice of adjectives rather then discuss the effect Warren’s proposal would have on business. Its easier to disparage me than it is to defend her plan.

I wasn’t speaking of goals, I am speaking of function. Regardless of the intent, when the government dictates the business plan of a company, it is akin to the function of fascism.

It forces market mechanism. That is not capitalism, that is government control.

In theory, the Federal Income Tax is voluntary.

There is no such thing as equal access to information. Information must be sought.

We are talking about Warren’s proposal, not how businesses operate under government oversight.

That distinction eludes me.

Good on your wife, hopefully she has made a lasting impression on those children.

You don’t make an impression in one day. We’ve worked with this family for two years… good people on their way to citizenship.

Thank you so much for this enlightening reply. Care to often any supporting documentation or is your vitriol the proof of your veracity?

I’m not surprised.
