East Palestine: Biden's amazing success in environmental equity

Equity is achieving fairness and balance in access to environmental resources (e.g., green space, safe neighborhoods, healthy homes, healthy fisheries), in bearing environmental burdens (e.g., pollution in air, water and on land), and in participating in environmental decision-making. Today, some populations – often ethnic minority communities, indigenous persons, people of color, and low-income communities – have less access to resources and experience more burdens than others due to factors such as systemic racism, poverty and lack of access to political power. Equitable policies do not distribute resources equally or relieve burdens equally — they seek to address the imbalance (also known as the “disproportional burden”) that groups experience.

Hazardous waste expert tells Tucker Ohio town was ‘nuked’:

East Palestine is the Ohio town that that the site of the man-caused disaster. The town is 98% white, and Trump got over 70% of the county’s vote in 2020. While the median income ($35,738) is only about than half of the national average ($67,521), the demographics are clearly low in intersectionality. Instead, they show that the people of East Palestine and nearby areas have overwhelmingly high levels of white privilege and toxic whiteness.

Nuking East Palestine with toxic chemicals is a victory for environmental equity.

When will Biden and Buttigieg have a joint “mission accomplished” celebration?

Why haven’t Greta and Al Gore shown up yet? Why does it seem only conservatives are champions of the environment now? Everything has flipped.

East Palestine is a long way east from Palestine…

Elites are worried about theoretical risks from climate change and making sure that their homes in Martha’s Vinyard are protected from unsightly development.

Nuking a town filled with working-class Trump supporters is just fine with them.

Yep, “more of those White trash inbred hicks in the rust belt” as far as the elites are concerned. This thing is going to impact far more than that town however.

The administration is now saying they intend more direct and more intensive assistance here than could be provided by FEMA. If that is the case…well, we shall see.

Yes, but I expect that anyone from East Palestine who is too vocal in their complaints will be labeled as a likely “terrorist” and will be subject to FBI surveillance and harassment.

Why would Greta travel to the US? This is an accident, a ■■■■■■■ horrific accident but its not intentional environmental damage.

No they wont. Stop with the ridiculous hyperbole.

Or they’ll put you on a "likely terrorist” list and you will be subject to FBI surveillance and harassment, Bill in PA.

The FBI targeted parents who complained about sexual assaults at school board meetings.

The DHS claims that reporting that sows discord or undermines public trust in government institutions is a terrorist threat:

. . . threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions . . . the convergence of the following factors has increased the volatility, unpredictability, and complexity of the threat environment: (1) the proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions . . .
National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin - February 07, 2022 | Homeland Security

Saying that the FBI targets dissidents for harassment and surveillance is not hyperbole.

Red state, Pug Governor the flyovers should be well taken care of….

Snark aside, this is terrible and I do hope these folks get the assistance they need but after watching things like Flint Michigan water crisis I have my doubts.

For as long as I can recall, the response by Democrat leaders to complaints about their actions has been “How dare they notice what we have been doing!”

The federal government is all about protecting coastal elites and foreign interests. They are constituencies who count. They count by sending billions in thinly veiled bribes. They count by controlling and censoring media. They count through their domination of the permanent state in Washington.

Working class voters in flyover country don’t count. They are viewed as a resource to exploit and an enemy to be subjugated.

Flyover country has plenty of political power, they gearing up to put Desantis in the WH.

They should have a “dimocrats for the environment” marathon in that town, with the participants circling the downtown area repeatedly, breathing in the safe air.

Residents can line the streets handing out safe water to the runners.

And move the dimocrat national convention there next year.

FEMA just gave East Palestine the middle finger.

Does East Palestine need to break out BLM and rainbow flags to get aid?

Do they need a caravan of migrants to come to town?

Or is this simply equity for being “too white”?

Who ordered the controlled release and burn of all those chemicals?
