Drugmakers Raise Prices on Hundreds of Medicines

“Other people paying” is fundamental to any healthcare system…

No average middle class American could afford battling cancer or one of the other countless ailments that humans deal with…

It’s a shallow and selfish point only iterated by those who are relatively healthy.

how about price control on medication?

Rubbish. A child getting cancer is a personal choice. Why should successful rich people have to pay for some poor kid’s healthcare?? If they can’t afford $100k a year treating their kid, then they never should have had children in the first place!!! And besides, charity will just take care of it anyways.

Clearly your don’t.

—Lowering prescription drug prices. Suggestions include a new agency that could investigate drug manufacturer price hikes, and they would allow Medicare to negotiate directly for the best drug prices.

—Cracking down on corporate monopolies. Democrats would enact new standards to limit large mergers, and create a new consumer competition advocate.

Trump is pro lowering drug prices Republican are not working with him though.

So did Obama, and yet the ACA didn’t address drug prices at all. I wonder why?

Could it be that neither party has any intention of going up against big Pharma since they’re one of the two biggest lobbyists right now? Nah, that couldn’t possibly be the reason.

Never mind that it doesn’t matter who sits in the Oval Office when Congress are the only ones who can really do anything about it and won’t.

No one in Congress is. Because lobbyists.

Right because it’s not like we don’t already have Federal regulations and anti trust laws in place to combat both of those. If only they were being enforced.

Holy ■■■■■ well here is something that has NEVER happened before. Let’s get outraged.

Where’s the sarcasm button?

Trump promised to lower drug prices.

I don’t think the drug companies care who promises what, frankly.

“Trump promised to lower drug prices.”

So did Obama. He also promised you could keep your existing plan and if you made less than $250k/year you wouldn’t pay any additional taxes. Where’s your fauxrage for Obama not keeping his promises?

Turns out, the President can’t really do much without Congress despite whatever promises they make. Who’d have thunk it?

Of course they don’t. Those promises are just for us rubes who pay taxes. Meanwhile those drug companies paid Congress to stay out of the ACA legislation. Go ahead, find a single line that mentions anything about drug prices in the law. It isn’t there. By design.

But Obamaaaaaa!

NDAs are just government welfare. You are a better person for not using them.

When you can’t rebut, deflect.

Is that why you brought up Obama in a thread that has nothing to do with him?

I don’t see the word TRUMP anywhere in the OP. The OP is about drug companies raising their prices.

As usual, it turned into a we must bash Trump and not mention any of the other times this exact same thing has happened in the past because we wouldn’t want to admit this ■■■■ happens no matter who is in office because of lobbyists etc. thread.

I don’t think bringing Obama and the ACA into the thread is wrong, nor is bringing the current admin into it, nor is bringing anything else from the past into the thread to discuss the situation of ever increasing drug prices.

This crap has been going on for a long time. The President (no matter what letter) often takes a lot of the blame for the actions or inactions of Congress, of which a majority of its members are in office much longer than the President or his cabinet. The really sad part is that no matter how badly Congress screws things up, people keep right on re-electing these same crooks, despite the fact they no longer even pretend to represent us anymore. Hell, Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon was running for re-election during the St. Helen’s eruption back in the 80s. He’s been in office for going on forty years. But guys like him aren’t the problem. It’s the guy who’s only in the White House for four or eight years max.
