Drug and Background Tests Not as Important

Appears many firms are having a difficult time attracting ANY workers, so they’ve relaxed their prerequisites.

IMO This is more reasonable, especially with marijuana legal in more states. While I won’t go so far as to say a BA or BS shouldn’t be required to, say, teach, I think relaxing of educational standards is reasonable for some jobs. Just how teachable & willing to work & learn that job do any applicants seem?

And won’t someone with varying criminal records be less likely to return to those offenses if they’re gainfully employed? Thoughts?

Assuming the position in question doesn’t involve operating machinery/performing surgery - if you own a business, why on earth would you want to spend money on having your employees tested ? If they do the work that’s assigned to them, that’s all that matters.

Said at the end of my interview around 2000…

“Well, onto our drug testing policy: You bring them in, and we’ll test them.”
