Isolation and quarantine are the two most proven methods of stopping the spread of disease, that’s not even arguable and that’s epidemiology 210.

That is his sole focus and he’s correct.

That doesn’t mean it’s the best advice for the country right now or that if we followed it we’d not face a complete collapse of the economy.

Common Sense, not epidemiology teaches us that we have to get back to work to prevent an economic collapse which will in the end be far more devastating than the virus ever could be.

If we listened solely to the economists, we’d drop all restrictions and go back full bore tomorrow. They too are right from the aspect of their narrow focus but it would be disastrous for the country.

Again, common sense, not economics 210 tells us we need to do a phased restart that focuses on protecting those at highest risk of serious/critical illness or death.

How is separating elderly & immune compromised supposed to keep them COVID 19 -? Is it a more mild strain if they get it from each other as opposed to from a younger, non immune compromised COVID +?

The giving a darn about pregnant women & separating them along with the elderly is really hypocritical. Most of those calling for the elderly/immune compromised to have their own times in grocery stores & medical practices are absolutely in agreement w the prospect of abortion at all stages—particularly handicapped infants.

They were nasty as could be about the Schindler family watching their daughter, Terri Schiavo, die by dehydration with her feeding tube removed by her creep of a widower, Michael. Had some choice terms for those in favor of allowing the Schindlers to care for Terri, as they wanted.

Now they give a damn about protecting lives?! I don’t think so. They’re in this for the forcing of an authoritarian government on the majority, who don’t want it.

With New York nursing homes being forced to readmit COVID 19+ patients, and the disaster that has been proved to be, can someone please explain the logic of separating the elderly and immune compromised?

Is it a lesser strain if they get it from each other vs a younger, healthier, possibly asymptomatic carrier? Are they less likely to get sick from one carrier as opposed to a greater number?

Can someone please explain the logic to these separations?

If Fauci’s job “is to give the best advice he can relative to this pandemic”, as you indicate, and epidemiology findings tell us the most vulnerable to the deadly effects of the vires by far are the elderly, and more specifically those who have underlying medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, chronic lung disease, etc., why not advise a remedy which focuses on the most vulnerable to the deadly effects of the virus instead of advising a remedy so broad in nature that it predictably kills the patient, meaning the American People?

Could it be that Fauci is not the epidemiological “expert” we are led to believe, and failed in prescribing a targeted remedy consistent with the epidemiological findings? Or, is there a reason for his madness?

My daughter, the med student has the same tunnel vision. She wants everything locked down until the virus goes away. The difference is, I can forgive such ignorance of what that means in someone that young. Fauci should know better. She wants to save every life possible, that is her focus, all she cares about. But as I keep trying to explain to her, staying shut down has its own dire effects on public health that have to be taken into account. That shouldn’t need to be explained to a man his age, no matter how focused on his narrow field of expertise.

For Fauci to offer a remedy which tells our nation’s entire population to stay at home, and cancel elective medical procedures like mammograms, colonoscopies, and PSA tests, the question must be asked, how many early detected cancers have gone unnoticed? And how many scheduled dental cleanings were suspended, because of Fauci’s “expert” advice, during which time early cancers could have been detected?

And what about a predictable increase in suicides, drug overdose deaths and domestic violence, which has resulted from Fauci’s "expert’ advice to enforce a shelter in place order? Seems that Fauci is not the “expert” we were constantly told to obey, and especially, and suspiciously, told to obey by our Fifth Column media and their Yellow Journalists.

What he should of been saying, in theory, shutting everything down would be the fastest way to eradicate the virus, however, that would entail accepting other potentially even greater threats to the public health in the long run. Therefore a middle ground of protecting the most vulnerable would be a better approach.

I don’t recall anyone advocating to separate the elderly from the immune compromised. What has been called for is isolating the elderly, and more specifically those having underlying medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, chronic lung disease, etc., from our general population. The logic behind this is, those with the above medical conditions are most likely to suffer the deadly effects of the virus. Having this identifiable group shelter at home and away from carriers of the virus would certainly lower the “death rate” from the virus, as the rest of the population by far recover if infected with the virus.

To be fair, there has been a universal consensus that the vast majority of deaths due to COVID-19 are among the elderly, and more specifically, those with underlying medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, chronic lung disease, etc. And this epidemiological finding was known as early as mid March. Knowing this fact, the common sense and logical approach to deal with the virus was to focus on, and protect, this susceptible group while allowing the rest of our nation’s population to go about its business.
