Double Standards

Now this is interesting to me. As an American, having heard many times that America always interferes with other country’s business, is it not understandable that I would not want a foreigner insulting my president and interfering in my politics? In this case it is not a personal insult, but rather I don’t want foreigner judging my country and my country’s laws, especially when we are the brightest light ever liberty ever to shine for mankind. I don’t like it anymore than I would like my neighbor interfering in my family’s personal business.

Again, using my family as an analogy, if my neighbor wants to say I have a great family then I will appreciate the kind words. If they want to criticize how I raise my family then they better just shut up.

If you want an echo chamber that’s certainly your prerogative. There are plenty on the net. This however isn’t one and won’t become one just because you want it that way.

Sounds like the problem is more that the only time you want feedback to your opinions is when it’s positive. You may in fact find that here (and I see that you have) but you have to expect criticism and yes, even snark and satire. If that negativity is directed to your positions and not your person it is typically not censored. If that is a problem or you disagree that your opinions can’t be separated from your person then yes, you will not find your time here to be enjoyable.

Imagine if the moderators had to parse every phrase for the possibility of snark. It would be impossible and soon (trust me) everyone would be banned. They have to allow for some leeway to allow for debate (often heated). Otherwise this place would get really boring really fast.

I like you. Your posts are thoughtful. Its not that hard, obviously. Why can’t everyone else do it.

You are right though, and that’s why rules are worthless, for the most part. Like someone famously said, I cannot define pornography but I know it when I see it.

Well, rude posts and childish posts should be deleted and good posts should stand. No specific guideline necessary as long as you have good decent moderators.

As you say, he is a guest host and specifically asked for his opinion. That is quite different from someone sticking their nose in.

Call me crazy, but I don’t like my American family attacked by outsiders. I would think that would be easy to understand. I guess it is not.
