There was absolutely no compromise in Obamacare, it was jammed down our throats without any Republican input. It was NEVER about healthcare or insurance, but a massive wealth redistribution scheme as one Obama official publicly admitted. It also wasn’t just one lie- " you can keep your doctor" there was another major lie it was hyped on " The average family will save 2500.00 a year on premiums."

To say there was no compromise is absolutely false.

1. The Democrats gave up the public option
2. The Democrats adopted the Heritage Foundation plan of an individual mandate
3. The Democrats put in cuts to the Medicaid and Medicare fee schedules
4. The Democrats accepted over 200 GOP amendments in the HELP committee

As for the $2,500 per person lie—when you look at how healthcare expenditures were rising prior to the passage of the ACA and you analyze the rate of increase after its passage, want to guess what the delta is on a per household basis? Over $2,500.

This is completely false. The bill was first introduced in the House on October 29, 2009, passed in the Senate on December 24, 2009, and signed in to law on March 23, 2010. This isn’t even counting the months of round tables, bipartisan meetings by the Gang of Six and debates prior to passage.

I heard on the radio awhile back that that average cost an OB/GYN in Florida pays for malpractice insurance is 250k a year. What do you think that does to the prices he has to charge for his services? And that is just one expense of many…

I agree, it didn’t seriously address the issue of costs. Complete cede that point. Additionally, the GOP efforts since its passage have exacerbated the problem extensively.

But malpractice suits are not as big of a problem as you would think. We pay over $10,000 per capita on healthcare expenditures. Total medical liability costs, between defensive medicine and malpractice lawsuits, come to a total of about $55.6 billion per year. The vast majority of that is the cost of defensive medicine, not even malpractice lawsuits. But we could eliminate ALL of that (not practical), and it’s only result in a savings of $170 per capita, or 1.5% of our total healthcare expenditures. A drop in the bucket.

Nothing Democrats in Washington do is ever about helping people but in gaining more power for the government and taking control of healthcare would be a big step in that direction.

Government run healthcare is not better in Canada or England or anywhere else. If you want to see government run healthcare in America look at the problems in our VA healthcare system, especially before any of the reforms Trump brought about…

England spends less than half we do per capita. They cover everyone. They have great results. Places like the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland have even better aggregate results and similar or better wait times on elective procedures.

The VA has THE HIGHEST satisfaction rating out of all types of insurance options in the US. Better than Medicare, Medicaid, Union or employee provided. While the problems facing the VA were unacceptable, they were a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the millions the VA serves. When compared to the thousands of premature deaths that are a result of a lack of insurance coverage, the VA problems pale in comparison with the larger issues with our disparate system.

Nancy Pelosi introduced the plan in July 2009, it was voted on November 7th, 2009, with 219 Democrat votes and only one single solitary Republican vote in favor. It was voted in the Senate on December. 24th with 60 Democrats voting in favor, 39 Republicans voting against and 1 Republican abstaining.

By the time the bill was due be voted on in March 2010, Scott Brown of Massachusetts had replaced Paul Kirk, who was appointed to finish Ted Kennedy’s term. Brown was against Obamacare and since the Senate lost it’s 60 votes needed to pass the bill, The Democrat leader decided to use budget reconciliation, which only required 51 votes to get the bill to Obamas desk.

EVERY REPUBLICAN VOTED AGAINST IT! So stop with the bipartisan, compromise nonsense.
And no, no one had time to read it as Nancy said, " we have to pass it to see what’s in it."

Now- the 2500.00 of “savings”? I see, this is hypothetical money we all saved because we got to pay less less than we otherwise would have paid due to Obamacare. Right?? Since hypothetical money counts as actual money for Obamacare and doesn’t make Obama a liar, why doesn’t hypothetical money count when Trump said Mexico will pay for the wall because of all the money they will lose due to it’s construction??

The VA had the best satisfaction rate? The VA exemplified every problem government run healthcare has in every country it exists. Not enough doctors which results in a shortage of care, which resulted in the deaths of many. Cost was not the factor as it is with insurance plans. Lack of choice was a problem, lack of local availability was a problem, government inefficiency and apathy was the problem because that’s what monopolies produce. Lack of insurance was not the problem.

Parents lost theirs and ended up paying almost twice what they paid prior to the law being enacted, simply because their plan didn’t include maternity coverage. For my folks in their 50s. ■■■■ the Democrats that peddled and support this bull ■■■■■

And my parents were pretty moderate prior to Obamacare being passed. Not anymore. They completely blame the dems for it, and rightfully so.

My son stayed on my insurance instead of being kicked off like they were threatening because he cost too much money. We thank the dems for protecting him. He could not protect himself and they came through for him and us.

Your parents had to pay a higher price, but my son got to live. We thank the dems and will blame the GOP if the protection granted with the ACA will go away. We are not the only ones.
