Yes I read it…and I agree with part of it. It’s the part that I highlighted. It’s normal behavior when you’re searching in gray area.

Remember back to a time when the President used a sharpie to alter a weather map so as not to be mistaken about something that no one gave a crap about?
And then there were days of people arguing how the President wasn’t actually being an idiot that he was indeed right?
And then we find out later that Wilbur Ross threatened to fire people within NOAA if they didn’t back up the President’s stupid mistake that no one gave a crap about?
Yeah… that should have been a warning of things to come.
Now lives are on the line

No, I think you need to check your math on that. We’re discussing debt, not spending.

Special rules just for Trump? Sure.
He’s wrong about barring citizens from returning.

The federal government TRUMP does not have that power. The Constitution’s grant of limited, enumerated powers to the national government TRUMP does not include the right to regulate either public health.
I like it.

I do disagree with Trump on that one, he’s already backed off on it some, but the president does have a lot of power, & as we saw with the 3 year Coup via the democrats Congress has tried to take too much power as well. The left loves all that power, & if they ever get their way, we will lose our freedoms to their arrogance & hate.

you all seem to think they settled something, they did not. the federalist did not argue for or against provisions in the constitution, they argued what the provisions meant. the argument has not changed. nothing was “settled”, those who argued they mean “this” still adhered to them meaning “this”, while those who said “that” still believed they meant “that”. you can pick either side of the argument and get a federalist paper to support whichever intent you choose.
by whom? certainly not the courts.
yes it does, and the congress writes laws. many laws. and the executive enforces them. neither of those 2 things negate the fact that the states have no (zero, zip, zilch. nada) authority over commerce. They used to, back when courts differentiated between intra/inter state. something they stopped doing about a century ago when the mechanism for unchecked federal usurpation of state authorities was adopted (the 17th) and the states voices were erased from the federal system.
Federal dollars ALWAYS come with strings.
Under a Declared National Emergency the president has dictatorial powers in many areas particularly in states that have received individual State Disaster Declarations.
This is why we must always be mindful of who we put in that position because it begs for people to abuse it.

he must have forgotten recent court cases.
deficits go up when democrats control any part of the congress, they go down when republicans have both houses. much better correlation.

given the expansive reading of the commerce clause over the last century… yes.

PeterGriffin:
The day he became President he pushed Sean Soicer out there to lie about what everybody could plainly see because his ego couldn’t stand having smaller crowds than the black guy.
I’m not seeing this gift at reading people.
You’re correct. You aren’t.
I an 51 years old and a high school drop out. I am a first responder. I have common sense. Trump is the president of the United States, but he is not “boots on the ground” for each state. He does NOT have the authority to have absolute power over states telling them when they will open the country to boost the economy. If states follow his demand, the only economy that will be Boosted will be funeral homes. See, you dont need a college degree, or a high school degree to have common sense. The wave of this Covid-19 hasn’t fully hit. If we allow Trump to tell states what to do, we will all end up greater looses, which would include more deaths, possible permanent closure of business. Hospitals will be worse off, and shortages of food will be greater. SHELTER IN PLACE is key. That has proven to save lives. Waiting just a bit longer will save lives. Being the greatest country in the world meant we have to act responsibly. We have to do what is Necessary for the health of all the people, by the people, not what Trump thinks. Trump doesn’t have a medical degree and he fires people who dont think like he does. But i would rather be cooped up a little longer and. Live my life than to get Covid-19 and die. Sometimes to achieve the goal of ALL being healthy, we have to sacrifice. But if trump decided to open the county and our health care workers are sick, who is going to take care of you? See, Trump doesn’t have to worry about who will take care of him, but we as citizens of the United States do have to worry about who will take care of us. So, we have to trust our local mayors, county judges, and Governors. But make no mistake, this Covid-19 isnt over. As long as people are infected, it can read its ugly head and strike back. So please, give it time.

The data indicate the crisis had abated.
We now know public best hygiene practice.
The virus is insufficient to keep sheltering unless you are in high risk group. If that is the case…Yes self quarantine.

The rest of the US is much different.
We will be fine and so will NY.
That area needs 2 more weeks at least.

that’s great news.
The problem is, one case in your county, with no restrictions in place, can easily be 50 a day in two weeks.
