Does silence equal violence?

It appears that the left is waging a campaign to declare anybody who isn’t vocally in totally agreement with them as “violent.” So labeling everybody who disagrees with them as simply racists isn’t good enough anymore? Now we’re all violent racists? Sorry folks. We are not intimidated by your Marxists tactics. Not at all.

But I do have a question for you. If you have the integrity to answer it. Here goes. In 2018, African Americans made up about 13 percent of the population. 7,407 were murder victims. Only 6,088 murder victims were white. A black man is many, many, many times more likely to be murdered than a white man. There is a massive disparity. Why? And why are liberals are ignoring it? Conservatives are not. Why the silence libs? What do you plan to do about this? Is your silence, violence? If not, why not? What’s your excuse?

Not a trick question libs. Does your silence equal violence?

Jacobson says his inbox is full of emails from people “afraid to speak out at work.” Work is not the place to discuss politics or religion for the vast majority of workers.

There are obvious exceptions, such as college campuses and professors in the appropriate subjects. Which has been targeted for silencing.

In the case of authoritarianism by the police as enabled by the judiciary, I would offer that silence is acquiescence.

What do you mean conservatives aren’t ignoring it?

Of course they are.

Everyone is.

To a degree. But conservatives are not trying to cover it up. For example. This thread would NEVER be started by a liberal.

Sure they are.

How do explain this thread and that fact that Sean, Tucker and Laura discuss it all the time? Where are your people? Silence is violence.

the silent violence is creating urban valleys of blood. The silent ones might as well be wielding machetes

They like to pick and choose who can and can’t be racist.
example: Obama’s 20 years with Rev. Wrights church of hate.

So what. :woman_shrugging:

You’re wasting your breath.

mumbling behind a mask is violence

Wow. Moving from “Words are bullets” to “Silence is violence”. Is the second amendment the one that covers speech now?

That might be a little over the top, but we do need more people to be anti-racist as opposed to non-racist. The difference that could make is incalculable.

Yuge.

What does that look like?

It’s a rhyme that, because the rhyming was given more weight than the aim, misses the mark in condemning passive complicity.

In any system where disparity is structural even passive beneficiaries are complicit. Perhaps only be refusing to be a passive beneficiary can complicity also be resolved.

That said, with no consensus as to what constitutes harm, or benefit, such sloganeering really only highlits pre-existing fault lines, conflicts and intractable problems.

Were American cultural more broadly tolerant, and less likely to amplify moralism, culture and values into totalizing divisions, most of the intractable problems (the ones that aren’t structural) would resolve themselves in productive indifference.

What does silence equal violence mean?

I assume it means that silence means the approval of police brutality thus meaning your taking an active role in the violence and death of blacks.

An “active role”?

It sounds like saying something when a friend or acquaintance says something racist.

You are not going to get rid of racism. That is a pipe dream. It’s been with us since the beginning of time.

This is a country of laws. They should apply equally. That will never happen to the degree demanded either because we are all human and flawed.
