Right. Well, that was political speech eh? And his employer fired him.
Point is, employers fire people for social media nonsense, as they should.

Itās push back against separate and not equal.
It wasnāt a surprise to anyone who has been following the āWhite Power Hourā that is Carlsonās show for awhile. Of course, the major culprit in all this wasnāt the fact that Tucker Carlson has been coddling and encouraging and in some cases overtly engaging in white nationalism beliefs, nope. The problem, according to Tucker Carlson was āThe Mediaā for outing his long time head writer as someone who was racist AF.

The argument here seems to be centered around whether it is applied equally or with different standards based on who is spouting the nonsense.

There is also a problem that ācancel cultureā is an umbrella term for a whole host of online shaming that it can literally mean anything because the examples of it are such broad in scope.
As I said.
It is something that has always happened but people have attached a moral panic around it.

Canāt imagine why, the only thing on the line are their jobs and reputations. If people in this country were sane and smart social media would be a ghost town.
The outcomes are unequal because Republicans/Trump Supporters/conservatives/whatever have a much higher propensity for saying offensive things in the public square.
The push back is because they want to be able to say offensive things without consequences.

They should form a union.
Who decides what is offensive? Who decides that what Harris was called in that post is more offensive than what Trump is called and by what criteria?

One needs to be woke, to know that calling a woman a hoe (which she clearly is not) is rude and inappropriate?
We used to call that, mature and respectful.
Rappers.
Different market.

this post. Different identities.
Ok. But I have google and just did a search and well, guess what, it happens to everyone.
Theyāre having a hard time figuring out that they canāt get away with what theyāve been getting away with their entire lives. Nobody wants to associate their business with that kind of nonsense. All social media is is a platform that gives a lot more reach to what people are saying. If that causes you problems for what youāre saying, the problem isnāt social media or ācancel cultureā. The problem is the words coming out your mouth.

It just boils down to someone being important enough to have sensitivity training instead of getting rid of them. Itās the NBA, do you actually play basketball? Are you important to the team? Sensitivity training. Anyone else? Just post memes about traffic being bad.

Ariel Atkins get sensitivity training?
In this case, the free market and the employer.
Each business can decide for themselves what rises to a fireable offense. Something wrong with that?

Well letās change that, letās chase down everyone who reposted these tweets and get to firing.
The old guy we bought the company from was aghast at the idea that I removed his cheesy 2nd amendment bumper stickers off all the crew trucks. It was actually one of the first requests for changes of the employees that held over, even those who carry.
Everyone was just sick of having to talk about it with clients at work. All hassle, no reward, so they got the goo-gone treatment.
