The frontman of the crazy caucus nominated Trump for speaker. This is just trolling for attention.

Didnât Trump say McCarthy should be Speaker?

Trump has trained his crazies to not even trust him. Reminds me of this scene:

Iâm not going to speculate. Well that and I really donât care, just so long that Pelosi doesnât come back as Speaker. Give us OAC for all I care ⌠that would be fun, donât you think?
I donât mean respected by âthe people.â
I mean respected by Congress - and the President, and everyone else their job is to negotiate with.
Why would Biden take anyone the GOP puts forward seriously now?

You jest (presumably) but that would be an excellent choice.
HmmmmâŚmaybe.
If McCarthy pulls it out without too many, or just minor concessions, itâll be forgotten. But if he ends up giving them a killswitch on his speakership? Weâll be reminded of it monthly.
Because itâs still legislation. It will need to be dealt with.

Earlier I made a post about how Republicans have a serious problem sharing power in the minority and for whatever reason think they shooke be setting the agenda for a Democratic administration.
Newt was the first notable example of this radicalization, being pushed out by his own party after shutting down the government to coerce Clinton to sign a capital gains tax cut and cuts in Medicare, and Clinton winning that standoff.
Same dynamic pushed Boehner & Ryan into retirement.
Newt canât help you.

Didnât the founding fathers expect stuff like this to get settled by dueling?

A few years back I heard Newt talking about Clinton. He said that no matter who was invited to a meeting Clinton was always the smartest guy in the room when it came to the subject at hand. He said that it was pretty obvious that Clinton really did his homework.
What the Republicans are proving is that they will not be able to agree on passing any reasonable legislation. This is going to be very obvious when the debt ceiling hits the floor.
I feel sorry for all of the family members who got stuck in D.C. hoping to see their relative sworn in. And now I hear that there are a few members who had commitments over the weekend and have to leave D.C⌠.
I will take Aaron Burr for $800 Alex.

Well, the Republic is still standing 166 years after it took 133 ballots to elect the House Speaker. Kinda give the lie to all the crying going on that the republic is failing because of this delay of a few days.
Silver lining is McCarthy has the record for the longest speech in the House. He may be able to add another ribbon to his wall with this

I wasnât asking Newt for help, I merely said he would be a great choice for Speaker. Pretty much everything Clunton accomplished is because he stole it from Newt.

Then I agree. Newt is arguably the best Speaker the House has ever had.
