so you agree with McConnell that the congressional investigations were fine. Good.

Not caring is not the same thing as agreeing. But I don’t think that is what McConnell was suggesting by his rejection of the House plan for an independent investigation.

This is nothing resembling business as usual.

It’s fascinating to watch how a real democratic process operating in the political arena distresses those who want bigger government. The speaker can be chosen from almost the entire USA citizenry. McCarthy doesn’t have the confidence of enough of the Republican caucus, but like Hillary, he believes it’s his turn and his crown. He’s another swamp elitist who has presided over a trippling of the national debt during his tenure.

. If he cared about grassroots GOP voters, he would be looking around for someone else who has the confidence of more or all of the caucus.

That is not in his DNA. This guy has wanted the position his whole career. And today after every vote there were a lot of political pundits that projected he would step aside. IMHO he will negotiate anything and everything to get his hands on the gavel. And he might paint his way into a huge corner doing it.

I don’t think he wants the job. But I do think he used his leverage to be assured the Chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee with possibly a lot of funding to go after Biden.

He approached the Dems to supply enough votes to adjourn the House without a speakerr after the fourth vote. They said no. Now the Dems are offering to support McCarthy if he limits GOP subpoena powers and not have government shutdowns over the debt ceiling.
