Does God No Longer Condemn Sin?

Correct. A judgmental person can consider those who attend church trash…but that God still sees them as human beings. No matter how much someone calls them trash.

God most likely sees some as trash.

For instance the man using his position in the church to molest kids.

Far better for clarity’s sake is Isaiah’s reaction on seeing the Lord high and lifted up as Holy, Holy, Holy.

Isaiah despaired of life and proclaimed that he deserved to die.

We should be very careful about Isaiah as he doubtlessly was mighty in the righteousness that could come from the Law. On top of that as ministering priest he had an official holiness that was simply denied to the vast majority of Israelites.

Isaiah was as much the real deal as any ordinary man ever has been.

Jesus said that unless our righteousness exceeded that of the Pharisees we could not enter the Kingdom. He didn’t say that they were without any righteousness, but clearly their righteousness did not profit them before God.

Isaiah had the angel purify his lips with a burning coal from the alter.

How can men who turn away from Christ now stand when they finally see God?

Short answer: they will not.

Do all these extra tolerant and kind people of our day (who run after far more than having “unclean lips”) think they will be given a pat on the back for being such great guys?

That is what self righteousness eventually boils down to: thinking your stuff doesn’t stink and underestimating what real Holiness is.

Not to mention the amoral sociopath currently occupying the White House…evangelicals think God is just hunky dory with him.

Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question: “What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?” They said to Him, “The son of David.” He said to them, "Then how does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying,

‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Until I put Your enemies beneath Your feet”’?

“If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son?” No one was able to answer Him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him another question.

Matthew 22:41-46

I wrote relative to the title and subject that the OP addresses. Excessive “tolerance” is not the property of one group these days. Nor is mealy mouthed kindness.

But which response to the question posed by Christ matters to a man? How his neighbor answers the question or how he answers it?

These are quotes from the same book that tells us a talking snake caused women to have painful childbirth?

Actually a literal interpretation is sorrow, not pain. And an increase is indicated. This could be that the children were born into sin as well.

If you think flippantly of it ask Carol Burnett to pull your lower lip over the top of your head.

Why have your responses to the topic been to mock?

Or, less importantly, since you wanted to bring politics into it, are you so oblivious to the manifest faults of the alternative presented to the guy you hate: a gal who already had a history of corruption in office and also having a media and rank and file that would circle the wagons around her vs someone who lives under a magnifying glass because people are so out to get him for obstructing their Just-Us?

The nice thing about believing in a fairy tale is the ability to change the story to fit anything.

I don’t buy the ‘Hillary was was worse’ BS. The so called Christians LOVE the amoral sociopath we call a president. We won’t see him primaried by these same so called Christians and I won’t even consider them voting for a Democrat.

Why do you care if they believe in a book? I’m not a religious person but Christians are not a threat to the west, and pretty. Most of the founding followers believed in that book and every president since has put their hand on it to swear into office.

Christianity has deep roots in western culture and western culture rocks compared to other cultures. Getting rid of it might not have the effects on society your hoping for.

Look at Europe they are like a vacuum right now in search of meaning and identity, pretty soon - it’s coming Islam will be the no 1 practiced religion in Western Europe, will see but I don’t think the results will be as good as the left thinks it will be.

Where did I intimate that I want to get rid of Christianity?

I’m saying they are bunch of hypocrites for supporting an amoral sociopath who doesn’t even come close to standing for their so called religious tenets.

There is a steady decline in Christianity in the west, as of now it looks as if politics will replace religion which scares me a lot more than Christians do. There is worth in Christianity that I hate to see go away and we could find out over the decades it was the one piece of the puzzle that kept this society together. I’m not excited to see it’ demise.

I’m OK with Christians hanging around myself. I think all religions are nonsense, but I am great supporter of freedom including religion.

God can use him, as he did with many others.

Why wouldn’t god have chosen someone who doesn’t cheat on his third wife with porn stars? Why elevate such a person when there are so many other options?

Why is so much of the OT still used in Christianity if jesus was supposed to replace it?

Christ noted that he came not to replace, but to fulfill. Fulfill means to bring to reality or completion. Christianity is meant to be a completion, not a replacement.

Replacing it would have been so much better, But that’s really another thread.

Why did Republicans choose someone who cheated on his third wife with porn stars? Why did they elevate such a person when there were so many options?

We who call ourselves followers of Christ chose the ungodly to represent us because we eschewed godliness for political power. Judgement must begin with the house of God.

I thought the OT was a bunch of allegory not to be taken literally. Or are we back to cherry picking?
