DOD and the media

So there are absolutely NO journalists left to cover the DoD??
Out of probably a million journalists in the country?
I wasn’t aware that those that work in the Pentagon can only speak with journalists who are assigned there. Are you saying that?

Yes, what has happened IS a big issue, at the same time it is not the end of Pentagon reporting. Has it gotten more difficult? Yes, will it stay this way? I doubt it, this was as I said previously a major over correction, Hegseth went too far, I don’t disagree with that. Where I disagree is the level of handwringing you and others are doing. There will be a return to normalcy at some point in the near future, I expect multiple court cases will be filed and the courts will order this overreach corrected.

Yet nearly every magazine and newspaper does exactly that. Push a specific narrative to shape the worldview of their readers. I suspect what has happenee is they are no longer going to push a left leaning narrative.

Personally I think ALL newspapers should leave the political spin to editorials and letters to the editors, the actual news articles should contain ONLY verifiable facts, zero spin, no underlying narrative. Leave out speculation, opinion, “unnamed sources say…”, etc. Newspapers should stop giving political endorsements, same for unions but that is a different topic. 2 people can hear the same speech at the same time yet their reporting on said speech will be totally.different, publish the text of the speech and let the readers come to their own opinions.

There are 15 reporters who signed the pledge and are allowed to report from inside the pentagon.

Actually 14. One resigned, though he can be replaced because the Epoch Times signed the pledge.

But none of these are really reporting. They are just repeating what the Pentagon releases to them.

Hand wringing? Pointing out what you here have agreed with is hand wringing? As you say, this is a big issue. It deserves discussion.

Epoch times is an extreme right wing outlet.

I think you can be objective and still use unnamed sources.

I honestly think most journalists are fairly unbiased. It’s the editors who push the narrative per managment’s marketing decisions.

No one is muzzling the entire press corps, good grief  it’s the 21st century where we have multitudes of news sources to choose from and to add to the press corps. Legacy lying media & AP propaganda arm of the DNC no longer has a monopoly on information disseminated to the public.

There’s some typical deliberate dishonesty from you.

Ok, I am not up on who is what.
That you think most journalists are fairly unbiased is one hell of a naive outlook. IMO ever since Bush v. Gore in 2000, the explosion of the 24 hr news cycle, and social media most journalists have lost any sense of unbiased reporting. The drive to “get clicks” and other reasons has changed journalism from reporting facts to driving a narrative.

We agree with the result. I’m just suggesting the narrative comes more from the decisions made by the editors and management rather than the reporters.

Ageee to disagree

Here’s a quick list of some of the newly credentialed news outlets that will be allowed to attended DOD media briefings:

-LindellTV
-Tim Pool
-Jack Posobiec
-TPUSA
-Gateway Pundit
-The National Pulse
-The Post Millennial

So to clarify, the NYT was replaced by the Pillow Guy’s media outlet.

That is absolutely the truth and ICAM with Sean Hannity that journalism in this country is dead and has been since for decades. Colleges are turning out junk journalists whose objective is to be the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party and to take down Republican presidents and administrations. It seems the curriculum is based on the two clowns Bernstein and Woodword.

Presidential adviser Laura Loomer is an accredited Pentagon reporter now

“Far-right activist Laura Loomer is now credentialed to cover the Defense Department, according to a person familiar with the matter, joining a new cohort of right-wing media that have agreed to the Pentagon’s new press policy.”

Pentagon reporter Loomer with breaking news. Today.
