Didn’t the words “super predators” get thrown around? And that was from what was considered to be the “left”

Between super predators and the Biden Crime bill that was touted as evidence of racism. (That’s actually not wrong).

Short term memories. Like the potential bombing thread they forgot about where they were cracking jokes….

Violent crime could be on the rise and it would not surprise me but we also have to remember the world we live in has never been more connected so we are far more informed and aware of what happens outside of our immediate communities.

I also think improved reporting methods snd people being more willing to report crime is a factor.

It genuinely would be interesting to see if aethists or those not actively involved with a religion or church commit more crime than those who have a belief system.

You know… I completely forgot about that guy until today.

I know for ■■■■■ sake that nobody will forget about the guy who called 911 on himself trying to kill a judge.

We will be reminded of it constantly

From the link:

Surveillance pictures show several teens throwing objects into the glass windows of shops along Cold Spring Road and other nearby streets in Syosset.

At least 12 businesses were burglarized and damaged in the smashing spree.

You could tell these business owner’s it’s no big deal.

I never said it wasn’t. Is your thread about trend or yet another oh no crime is out of control thread?

It’s impossible to know whether it’s a short term trend or one that will continue and/or worsen. Here’s something that looks like it’s out of the movies:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/new-orleans-city-councilman-suggests-calling-in-national-guard-to-combat-surging-crime/ar-AAYg5hC?bk=1&ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=69417b3d8676441fa9deb787907364ee

Yes 80s movies .

I get your point. Yes it remains to be seen. I think getting rid of overly progressive prosecutors is a good start

Then doing bail reform and sentencing reform methodically and on a case by case basis.

I’d have to look more into this but I believe Atlanta has been particularly hit:

Here’s the latest on that incident:

…thanks for posting. Our media is united to divide “we the people”. Another insane phenomenon happening right now, is that the current Administration conjured up a “misinformation” agency and the media along with them are the real culprits.

Couple of issues here.

Why cant you just make a detailed comment instead of these cryptic comments?

You don’t learn anything that way.

“Detailed comment”?

I have a hard time accepting this as a black-thugging of a white kid.

The “boy” was old enough to joyride his friends around, doing mischief with a water gun. They provoked the incident by shooting at a pickup game in a park. By the wording in the article, there were more than just those 3 guys playing hoops. These three just decided to retaliate. Others ran away. Note that the kids in the car didn’t just shoot at the game and drive away. They got out and pursued some of the guys on the court as they ran away. They ended up biting off more than they could chew.

Please, please, please. I want to make it clear that I am not saying or implying or even hinting that the kid deserved to die, or that the killing was in any way justified. My point is to address things like this statement from the boy’s father: “‘My son Ethan Liming was murdered by three African American males and a female who stood by and did nothing,’ Bill Liming said.”

And from his mother: After the arrests, Jennifer Liming, the boy’s mother told the Akron Beacon Journal that she hopes that her son’s death will cause people to think before they react to anger.

The relevance of this incident to the initial thread topic is the kids in the car being part of the trend of kids making more and more extreme choices, and participating in such things.

Retaliation is shooting back with a water gun, not beating him to death.

Yet you do.

Ganging up 3 on 1. Check.
Beating to death over getting wet. Check.

Thuggery. Check.

Here’s my response to your point and to the relevance of the OP. From what I found out shooting random people with these water pellet guns is being pushed on Tik Tok. Although I haven’t heard it confirmed I would assume that’s why the four kids were driving around at 10:30 in evening with these water pellet guns. Believe me in this day and age driving around after 10pm shooting strangers with any type of toy gun is utterly stupid! The main reason for this fitting in the OP is the savage nature of the incident. In another link I saw the father commented that his son’s face was unrecognizable. It’s one thing to beat someone in a fight It’s a completely different thing for three people to savagely beat the person to death because he shot water pellets at you. Here’s another thing I know, had the race’s been reversed this would have been all over the news.

I guess those kids never learned the adage “sticks and stones may break my bones, but water guns will never hurt me.”

They were kids. Kids … ALL kids … do stupid things. It’s part of growing up.
