Did the Pfizer CEO just admit that vaccine mandates are counterproductive?

Albert Bourla, Pfizer’s CEO is saying that two doses provide little if any protection from Omicron, the dominate COVID variant. Three doses are required to provide any real protection, but it would take at about 6 months or more to get three doses according to the vaccine guidelines.

Forcing people to get vaccinated now does nothing to protect them, and people who got vaccinated within the last five months in response to the mandates will have to wait to get a booster. Vaccinations now may also delay introduction of the magic Omicron version of the vaccine planned to be available in March.

Given the rate of spread of the mild Omicron variant, virtually everyone is likely to get exposed within the next few weeks. Pushing the vaccine mandates now does nothing at best and may actually interfere with future vaccinations.

Is it time to stop the vaccine mandates in the interest of public health?

Here are recent statements from the Pfizer CEO where he says that three doses are required for any real protection:

Here is a quote from a recent CNBC interview:

The hope is that we will achieve something that will have way, way better protection, particularly against infections because the protection against the hospitalizations and the severe disease, it is, it is reasonable right now, with the current vaccines as long as you are having let’s say the third dose.

Yep…

They did so on the urging of the vaccine companies and health authorities, who told them that in doing so they would protect themselves and their families and end the Covid epidemic. The statements were public. Many are less than a year old. They cannot be suppressed or memory-holed, no matter how hard anyone wants to try.

Every single one of those statements has proven wrong - so wrong that the companies, which are at much greater legal risk than the public health authorities - no longer even try to defend them.

You can see by the graph everytime we vax there are more cases not less. The booster seems to be the worse.

Yes, there has been a long string of misinformation and marketing spin coming out of Pfizer. That is probably a big factor in the FDA’s demand to delay release of vaccine information for 75 years. Instead, the judge is requiring that be released within 8 months which may explain the reason for the CEO’s recent admissions.

The mantra of boosters coming forever from the White House is now facing real questioning in Europe. Perhaps an epidemic of truth is starting to leak out.

Vaccines still effective against hospitalization and death

Okay. You are saying that the CEO of Pfizer is spreading anti-vax misinformation?

Should Twitter and Facebook ban him?

The study described in the first article actually agrees with the OP. Three shots provide some protection against Omicron, while two shots are pretty much useless. I suspect that the data referenced in the other two articles actually include a lot of cases from Delta and earlier variants.

The problem is it takes about six months or longer to get all three shots, so anyone who has been vaccinated since August is out of luck. People who are forced to get vaccinated now will probably have to delay getting the proposed Omicron shot as well.

If you believe the Pfizer CEO, the mandates are endangering public health.

Even now the vast majority of people dying from covid - whether delta or omicron - are unvaccinated. Not sure where you are coming from on this one.

It takes several weeks for a fatal case of COVID to progress from initial infection infection to death.

Most of the deaths occurring now are most likely the Delta variant contracted in early to mid-December.

Statistics based on the Delta variant are obsolete; at this point going forward Omicron is by far the dominant variant.

Well, I guess those vaccinated people who didn’t catch, be hospitalized with, or die from Delta must be feeling pretty silly now about getting the vaccine

What specific mandates are you talking about?

Probably one’s like United Airlines has, which the UAL CEO estimates has saved the life of 8 - 10 employees already.

Okay, people who were forced to get vaccinated arguably may have had a lower death rate in the past.

That is no longer the case with Omicron. Pfizer is admitting that.

Meanwhile firing unvaccinated hospital workers has contributed to severe staff shortages. Hospitals are forcing COVID-positive workers to go back to work rather than allow the return of healthy unvaccinated workers.

How many people are dying now as a result of enforcing obsolete mandates?

According to this article the number of terminated staff members are across the board a very small percentage of the total work force. For decades health care staff in all states have been required to get flu vaccine every year. Just like our kids are required to get multiple vaccinations to attend school. IMHO this healthcare vaccine mandate is no big deal. And I believe it has been successful in reducing the number of serious infections.

Any evidence that the two are related? I don’t believe that there is and so that makes your point moot. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hospitals have been chronically understaffed, yet hospitals are continuing to fire experienced workers to enforce obsolete mandates.

The vaccine mandates are just the most recent example of hospitals screwing the staff.

It’s almost like the virus mutated and vaccines designed for the original virus weren’t as effective against the mutated variants. It’s a mystery.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

The answer to ineffective vaccines is not more shots with ineffective vaccines.

Even Pfizer is admitting the truth.

Which is why Pfizer is developing an omicron specific vaccine. We have been doing this long enough with flu shots that people SHOULD understand the process.

But alas…

Maybe the Omicron variant isn’t effectively causing hospitalization and death?
