• Securing the border to reduce the flow.
• Arresting and deporting those with violent/drug offenses. With warrants. Not weed. Not simple possession 20 years ago.
• permanent residency/citizenship for anyone here prior to 2020 and no legal issues.

Of 614 immigrants arrested and detained in recent months around Chicago, only 16, less than 3%, had criminal records representing a “high public safety risk,” according to federal government data submitted to the court as part of a 2022 consent decree about ICE arrests. Those records included domestic battery and drunken driving.

This is a problem for any decent human being.

At no time did Trump imply that immigration enforcement would be limited to those who had committed other non immigration law crimes. In fact, he promised mass deportations that would have been impossible with that restriction.
Humanity and dignity does not require that people who overstay their visas not be required to leave.
