Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez plans to introduce legislation in the coming days to block President Trump’s “national emergency” declaration regarding the United States’ southern border with Mexico.
“Joaquin Castro and I aren’t going to let the President declare a fake national emergency without a fight,” tweeted the self-described Democratic-Socialist.

Cortez’ comments come just hours after President Trump signed a bipartisan budget agreement that included over $1 billion in border security. The White House later confirmed the administration will declare a national emergency to increase funding for wall construction.
