Did you read the punishment or requirements?
Teacher must have all book’s reviewed. Otherwise they must cover them up or remove them from the classroom. Or face felony charges
Florida teachers are already the one of the most underpaid… now this.

Doesn’t seem difficult to comply with to me.

Do you think that list is objectionable?

Of course not, just cover up your books. However does show a general distrust in teachers classroom libraries and may make it difficult for teachers to share reading in class from their library.
All with the potential of jail time…
Seems teachers in that particular county have issues with it. It doesn’t feel good to be threatened with jail time if you don’t have books reviewed or covered up.

There are magazines that are covered up at my local convenience store.
If none of the books meet the above criteria, what is the issue?
But I did notice you didn’t answer the question. Do you think having that kind of material in a classroom is appropriate?

If it is a book from the school library, aren’t they already approved for use?

A classroom isn’t your local convenience store. The books must be reviewed first otherwise covered up. All of them.
There are already rules regarding sexual material in schools and anyone with little kids agrees with them.

Obviously, the rules weren’t being followed.

Classrooms have libraries as well.
You have zero evidence of this.

If a convenience store can cover them for the sake of decency then why is it such a big deal in a classroom? A convenience store has a higher standard than a school?
Rules that aren’t being enforced? So, bring that to a classroom or library and now the rules are enforced. Why have any issue with that?

So they are bringing that material into the classroom then.

No the same county and having one book necessitates potential jail time if 100% of books aren’t reviewed or covered in the classroom?
Really?
If they find a book that is inappropriate, remove it. That simple. No need for the threat of punishment for many teacher who don’t have questionable materials.

I don’t think teachers should share inappropriate material. There are already laws on the books about this.
I think it’s draconian to threaten teachers with jail time if they present a book not approved by the state.
A that store is covering select magazines. Not the entire magazine rack.
And they aren’t doing under the threat of a felony.
They are also not school teachers who expect to have books available for teaching.
You don’t know one way or another. Seems like teachers in that county know.
Do you have issues being under the threat of a felony for vague rules?

That’s part of the point.
Not every book has been reviewed by the state trained media specialists yet.
So teachers are under threat of felony charges if they distribute something the state deems inappropriate.
and the list of books deemed inappropraite is already pretty crazy.

Who told you that? let me guess. The guy who wants to expand the force of his governmnet and his complicate media friends?
