Always amazes me when people stop buying or watching things they like, just because of a company’s political stance. How can one let politics run every aspect of their life???

I actually like that aspect of American consumerism. Sure, specific instances can be ridiculous. Yes, it’s often hard to parse the morality of any individual consumer choice (any given choice can lead to a trolley problem. ) Obviously, corporations will try to game this.

But generally, I think it’s a good development that ethics (or perceptions of them, when accurate) are now a component of brand identity. It’s made me far more aware of how workers are treated, etc. Relatedly, I like the broader discussion of energy policy, for example, and how it would be great to disentangle ourselves from ■■■■■■ petrostates. The “market” probably won’t allow it, but even the discussion is worthwhile.

Also, Jon Voight seems insane, but if The Odessa File is on, I’m watching it.
