That’s not what I understand “summary execution” to mean.

A summary execution is an execution in which a person is accused of a crime and immediately killed without benefit of a full and fair trial.

He wasn’t calling upon judges, jurors or law makers. He is asking for police officers to enforce the word of god and prescribe death to anyone who is LGBTQ. No where did he ever mention a trial.

when he called on police to enforce a Bible passage from Leviticus that prescribes death as punishment for being a member of the LGBTQ community.

Oops. Upon further research it looks like he did call for trials, unfair trials but trials nonetheless.

In the hourlong sermon based on an Old Testament passage, Detective Grayson Fritts, also a pastor at All Scripture Baptist Church in Knoxville, told his congregation June 2 that he believes that federal, state and county governments should arrest, try, convict and “speedily” execute people within the LGBTQ community on no more grounds than a cell phone photo of a person participating in a Pride event.`

More direct quotes from the (now ex) officer saying what he believes is the will of God

“Here’s how it should work, it shouldn’t work when we go out and we enforce the laws, because the Bible says the powers that be are ordained of God and God has instilled the power of civil government to send the police in 2019 out to these LGBT FREAKS and arrest them,” he ranted. “Have a trial for them, and if they are convicted then they are to be put to death…do you understand that? it’s a capital crime to be carried out by our government.”

Fritts went on to say, “All the pride parades, man, hey call the riot teams, we got a bunch of 'em, get the patty wagon out here, we got a bunch of 'em going to jail, we got a bunch of them we’re gonna get convicted because they’ve got their pride junk on and they’re professing what they are, they’re a filthy animal.”

“After this onslaught, where the government’s arresting them and carrying out God’s laws and they’re all dead…you think.”

Convicting someone and sentencing them to death over a photograph that might be nothing more than support for a lifestyle isn’t exactly a fair trial

The good news is that the public officials in and around this cretin’s jurisdiction has denounced him.

No.

You weren’t encouraged by the massive condemnation from the right over the pastor’s bigoted views?

I predict that Mr Fritts’ story is going to take an ironic (but not unexpected) twist in the not too distant future.

Depends on the state servant. They should be investigated by their higher authority to see if their work reflects any bias against another individual that conflicts with the law.

I tell you what… lets compromise. Meet you half way.

Lets kill only 2%.

See… centrism works.

Yeah well, “Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord”. This dudes an idiot.

I think we are expressing incredulity that this guy wants to kill gays. It is an abhorrent opinion, wouldn’t you agree?

Someone left a note outside the church before service started. It was quickly picked up by a congregant and taken inside the church building. It said, “Dear Pastor Fritts, I don’t know what happened to you, but I am so sorry. Love, Thy Neighbor.”

From the OP link.

Outstanding response.

No, that’s what intolerance looks like.

Ex. Not current.

Free speech protections were of course designed to protect unpopular speech.
