Dep. of Homeland Secruity names White Nationalism a Terrorist threat

Homeland has listed White Nationalism as a domestic terrorism threat, this is a big move in addressing the growing alt-right movement which has resulted in hundreds of death worldwide.

In the wake of the El Paso shooting and other white supremacist-motivated attacks, the Department of Homeland Security has added white supremacy to its list of domestic terrorism threats, marking the first time since the creation of the department post-9/11 that it has emphasized white nationalist domestic terrorism as a threat on par with that posed by foreign groups.

In a speech at the Brookings Institute on Friday, Kevin McAleenan, the acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said that recent mass shootings had “galvanized the Department of Homeland Security to expand its counterterrorism mission focus beyond terrorists operating aboard, to include those radicalized to violence within our borders by violent extremists of any ideology.”

We’re all aware it’s a threat.

It’s not enough of a threat to get overly concerned about. It’s a relative handful of kooks, most of which are cowards.

The guy in EP wasn’t a “white supremacist” he was just a homicidal crazy and Bernie follower.

It’s more of a threat to Americans than Islamic extremism is today

Not particularly. Typically their acts are very small in scale and not particularly well planned or executed doing generally very little damage.

The Islamists tend to be much better at it.

Yes particularly. They killed way more Americans in acts of terrorism this year than radical Islamists did. Last year too. And the year before that

And? All it takes is one big event to crush those numbers.

And? And there hasn’t been a large scale Islamist terror attack on America in nearly two decades. There have been far, far more instances of white supremacist motivated murders and attacks over that time.

Yet it only takes one and we know they plan for the big events.

In just two such events there were what, 63 killed and over a hundred wounded?

Those are pretty serious attacks particularly since the spurred the anti gun left to go nuts, launching another major push to ban scary black guns again.

But if there was then it would be bigger.

Are you suggesting white supremacists aren’t smart enough to pull off something that takes a degree of sophistication because if so I might actually agree with you

They are certainly capable and the info to accomplish same is readily available but rarely do they go for any sort of big strike.

Hate inspired murders on a small scale? Certainly but the big events are not their forte; at least so far.

51 people killed in Christchurch.

Exactly as I said.

The difference is, we haven’t seen any such big events out of them while we certainly have out of the Islamists.

Which isn’t in the US.

Try again, we’re talking about attacks on US soil.

once.

I have lived in Muslin neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and I have lived in South Florida.

By that, I mean I have spent time surrounded by both Muslim gangs, and Skinhead gangs.

Take a guess which side was more upset to hear that I was a Jew.

Once? far more than once. Boston, Orlando, San Bernarino. Any of those ring a bell?

Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting.
