a couple politicians bringing amazon to their state means at least one super easy reelection campaign

who wouldnt do it

amazon is gigantic

Been had how, again, exactly, Conan?

Seriously- what’s your point?

who won

probably liberals again

It’s called revenue sharing.

NY and VA did the math to determine how much additional revenue Amazon would bring.

Then they offered some of it back to Amazin as an incentive to build there.

Presumably NY and VA think they and their budgets will be better for it.

This is evidence of free markets right?

This is evidence of the benefits of billionaire job creators right?

I’m sorry if you can’t understand the simple mathematical proposition.

election nite all over again

Conan, you and I are in agreement with this fine young socialist.

At this point this is pretty much business as usual. The pro? New jobs. The con? The state willingly gives up money to lure them here. But this isn’t the first time. Hell, the owner of the biggest mall in my city negotiated a 30-year PILOT when he built the mall which in the long run will cost the city. But they wanted the mall. And they got it.

that aged almost as well as a Trump tweet

If it takes New Yorkers doing something stupid like this to get conservatives in the country to wake the ■■■■ up and stop kissing the asses of the corporations and wealthy then it may just be worth it.

But something tells me you and others will be back to bending over for the wealthy and Trump the next time they all cry and tell you they need tax cuts so they can throw you some more crumbs to get all giddy over.

I can guarantee that FoxConn played a large part in Scott Walker’s triple flush down the sewer last week. And that was a bipartisan flush.

The hypocrisy on display here knows no bounds. It’s hilarious actually. To watch people so blindly sycophantic in their devotion to a sleazeball politician who engages in the exact same behavior they now deride as extreme and out of touch. I mean really, who is the real out of touch person here?

Here is the thing about people in NYC not liking it.

It is seen as further gentrification. The site where the Amazon HQ is going is on the waterfront in Long Island City queens in an area that has seen rapid construction of glass high rise buildings over the past five years. The amount of building there is staggering. They have built in that area what would count as a downtown of a midsized city.

There are problems with this. The subway system is for real falling apart and there even though there has been work to improve access, it has been slow going.

Another problem is that it is a stone’s throw away from the projects and it is unlikely that any people there will benefit from this. It is more likely that they will see the affordability of their neighborhood go down as gentrification pushes on them even more.

That is a couple of reasons why people in NYC have a problem with it.

Another funny facet that seems to have eluded Mr. Conan is that even in the article they state that there are many Democratic voices speaking out against this deal. So I guess the broad brush has failed spectacularly yet again.
