Yes… you want to blame the unemployment benefits that ran out at the beginning of September while there is a unemployment rate of 4.8%.

Right now the unemployment rate is the same as it was in early 2017 and the Dow Jones is at record highs. That used to be good for former presidents.

There was a global pandemic happening. Do we forget that that was going on?

Shut downs didn’t just happen in “liberal States”… there were shut downs that happened globally.

At the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020, the peak of the deaths were a seven day average of 788 per day. Even in the winter the seven day average barely cracked a 100 per day. New York’s current 7 day average is 37 deaths per day.

The last wave in Florida had a seven day average 445 per day and this was months after there was an available vaccine and pretty good therapeutics. Florida’s current seven day average is 128 deaths per day.

Maybe having a bunch of people not dying is something that we as a nation should focus on a little more seriously.

I swear… it is like there is a cult that worships a line that is generated out of lower Manhattan and if that line for any reason points downward… people have to die to make it happy again.

Where have I been dismissive? There is a real problem to be solved but the roots of that problem run deep and have been looming for years.

There is going to have to be a shift away from the idea that corporations primary goal is to maximize shareholder value and more towards the people who actually do the labor or things are going to continue to get worse… not better.

Pay people and they will do the job. Exploit and abuse people then there is only so long that can go on for short term profits.
