A few years ago a poll was taken showing a third of Dems looked favorably on the term “socialism”. As that third has more to say within the party, expect more of the remaining non-socialist third to leave. That will leave the socialists an even greater percentage and the process will accelerate.

Independents who leaned one way, or another, were included to come up with the numbers in the article. The shift in swing independents is really where the movement has occurred. The article says that independents went from +5 leans D to +4 leans R. Loss of independents was the real story. The Louisiana State Senator’s video isn’t directly related to the article. While comments about a plantation may sound like a power slam, it is more likely going to be taken as a poke in the eye.
