The right to select the process for selecting your successor is one of the few rights that a Supreme Court justice does not receive.
Sad that near the end she would try to politicize the court even more than it is.

The left tries to iconize their leftists…as is not surprising.

On a drigh note, I wish everyone would chill the hell out and seriously consider what they have to lose.

They won’t. Some of them have already let the media ruin their lives. The follies of youth.

It’s kind of funny that the right lionizes Scalia and the left lionizes RBG while despising each other, yet Scalia and RBG were true friends.

I just heard Victor Henson say the same thing I said…she rolled the dice instead of retiring when she clearly had opportunity to do so.

It was her thoughtless decision that is now putting this country through this crisis.

Kind of like the cities burning to the ground nonsense which is being parroted by many. Yourself included. Funny how that works.

Doesn’t take much to start a fire.

A few fires does not a city burning to the ground make. But adults know that.

Trump 2020: “What more do you have to lose?”

Scalia was also good friends with Sandra Day O’Connor. They both loved cooking. There were many reports of how they would go to each others house and while their spouses were in the living room having drinks Sandra and Antonin would be in the kitchen cooking up a storm. I bet it was some good stuff.

Only if you apply math the way communists do to their economies to run them into the ground. You are saying Fred and Mary both weigh the same today. Therefore there is zero difference between the two.

As I clarified earlier, my post was unclear in that I was addressing tactics rather than ideology. However tactics are, in many ways, an ideology. And if McConnell and Schumer do 180s on a SC nominee during an election year, they’re the same. And this is but one glaring example that should be instructive to all. Such situational morals and ethics are a daily occurrence in big party politics and should be scorned, equally, on both sides by both sides.

I am liberal who is repulsed by the party I vote for. But they are, not closer, but less distant to my ideals. Not a pleasant experience.

Aspiring to non-partisanship is a difficult road but one I believe all should consider.

God willing and the Dems win everything this November, I hope they achieve these goals after the way Republicans have behaved. You want Democrats to play rough? Maybe they will. Republicans sure haven’t been playing nice.

I’m done with them and their supporters.

The beatings will continue until morale improves…

Still having some friends that work for some Dems - I did ask around this morning. My thought was that Dems would, off the record, get the message out to Republicans that if they vote to confirm before the election -They will push to expand the court if and when Dems take control of the senate and presidency.

But - from what i can gather (And by no means is this a extensive poll. Just a couple convo’s). It seems there are many uneasy about that. BUT what does seem to have a LOT of support - is a message that if Repubs push this confirmation thru before the election - and Dems take back the senate - You will see DC and Purto Rico get statehood - that would prob expand the senate by 3 or even 4 Democrats.

The Thinking the Republicans are about to be given a choice behind the scense. Take your gamble. But if take the Supreme court before the election and you lose -You will kiss the senate goodbye for over a decade. From a political stand point - Expanding the court has risk of blow back.

But adding statehood for DC and Purto Rico - Majority of people just dont care, and those that DO care -Are generally more in favor.

So, basically a lib hissy fit?

Hissy fit vs Repub Hypocrisy :man_shrugging:t5:

Sure. If that makes you feel better. Call it whatever you want.
Mitch had a hissy fit for 9 months when he refused to hold confirmation for Garland and he won. Showed all the temper tantrums in the world didnt hurt him, and in fact helped him.

So Dems learned. This will be Mitch’s legacy. A lost senate for a generation. Good job!!
