Actually, the country isn’t as far right as you think.
Most of the country is conservative economicly and liberal socially.

We aren’t going to pass laws just to puniah conservative. We will pass laws that are right and just but that we haven’t done in the past under the unwritten rule of slow and steady.
But GOP has shown by their hypocrisy that none of it matters and anything we can do, we should do.

You guys changed the rules for SC nominees. Not Harry Reid.

Do you think the majority of the country is in favor of Trump and the GOP rushing through a Supreme Court nominee this close to the election?

Couldn’t your post be equally directed at the GOP right now, in reverse?

Full steam ahead then. Just remember, a state being blue is not permanent.

Nothing is permanent, not even the Supreme Court.

Doesn’t take nearly as long for one of them to change.

But that is why you can expand the court if you choose to. It’s ALLLL about the checks and balances.

True. Esp for PR.
For DC, will be at least for the next 25 years
And remember, a Judge appointed by GOP is not guaranteed to always side with them.

Still not getting it, if they start doing extreme stuff, they will lose voters.

Agreed.
The GOP is doing extreme stuff and is launching a war that will not end well.

It has worked for Republicans.

Seating a Supreme Court Justice is not extreme by any sane metric.

I used to believe that too, but after the events of the past six months and the ascension of the Squad I no longer do.

Since you seem confident democrats are poised to retake the Senate and the Presidency, how can you say it has worked for Republicans?

To do it 45 days before a election after you had a dozen or more memembers say they wouldn’t and only 4 years after they wouldn’t even hold hearings is very extreme

Not voting on a nominee was extreme and voting on a nominee the very next time with the same predicament is the extreme position.

Except it isn’t the same set of circumstances.

I agree with you here.
It will be a zero sum result. And both sides will be hurt.

Ironically, if GOP doesn’t confirm they win. They have a 5-4 advantage, look like they are above the fray, and can prob get Dems to agree not to push forward with some proposals.

You’re right. It’s even worse this time because we’re closer to the election.

A majority of the country disagrees with you on this one.
