The Klan was hardcore fascist, but what’s striking is the inability to understand it is as Wray testified, it’s an idea in the sense that there’s no organization, no headquarters, no one “in charge”, it’s a response. The organization is something like 4 like minded young people in a 2 bedroom apartment with a sink full of dirty dishes. It’s not like The Oath Keepers, who were celebrated on the right and then were involved in trying to overturn an election and their leader is in Federal prison on a seditious conspiracy charge, among others. Or the Proud Boys, also getting rung up for the same thing and they were name checked favorably by a sitting President, who knew they were included in the planning to seize power.
