Aren’t you assuming ease of mobility? Not everyone has the resources to uproot and move. Plus, they could be leaving their support system behind as well as a job. If they move, someone still has to stay behind to work that job.

I don’t think it was intended that federal politician be a permanent career to be practiced 24/7/52 in the area set aside for politicians to convene for debate and policy resolution. I think it was foreseen that a 24/7/52 political presence would attract all the worst kinds of people to the same locus to make their best runs at manipulating and perverting decision-making - lobbyists in other words. I think it was to discourage this permanent beseiging of law-makers by sharks that the region was excluded from representation in the EC.

Minutes is time, not a measure of distance. There will be far less traffic once they move.

I’m not even accounting for traffic. We value our time, not miles on public transport.

It confuses me that they didnt go after Puerto Rico first. Personally, I don’t think it has much to offer the US and US voters as well as Puerto Rico voters should have a say,…but at least it would be a real state.
When you have that in your pocket, then go after the two Senators from DC.
If that works, then go after Guam and Virgin Islands.

No, they don’t clean themselves. The small plot of land set aside go the Federal government was not supposed to become a permanent encampment of lobbyists who demand 24/7/52 MacDonalds burgers and bar tabs. People choosing to live on that small plot of land know they are on land that doesn’t get representation in elections because it hosts the business of those elected. Those people, if they want to vote, can set up a residence outside of the zone, and vote.

Thus, a Representative with a vote would have a total value of 11 whereas a Representative without a vote would have a total value of 10. The Rep with the vote has more slightly more value.
