NY Governor Candidate Cynthia Nixon unveiled her detailed strategy for providing a ‘Medicare for All’ system to all New Yorkers this week; saying legislators should pass a universal healthcare bill and “figure out" funding later.
Nixon was speaking with the Daily News Editorial Board Wednesday when she was pressed over a host of issues; including the state’s healthcare system and bloated budget.
“Nixon also pushed her plan for a state universal health care program that estimates suggest could cost initially anywhere from $96 billion to $200 billion. The state budget currently is $170 billion,” writes the Daily News. “Nixon said she does not have a plan to pay for it”
“Pass it and then figure out how to fund it,” she said.
Nixon’s comments come just days after her heated debate with sitting Governor Andrew Cuomo; where the two sparred-off over immigration, ICE, and New York’s escalating housing crisis.
