And yet the very top people in the Trump administration (as well as Trump himself) have come out in the past few days saying they know nothing of it.

Is the DID lying? Are all the Trump officials lying? (Some of whom are actually Trump detractors, so it’s not like they’re scrambling to defend Trump.)

Or maybe both are telling the truth, and those balloons DID happen, but the DOD chose not to inform those in the government who should have been informed. And that’s an even WORSE situation than one side or the other lying about it. That would mean there is some under-the-radar government calling the shots. And our bickering here over the latest revelations distracts us from looking at the greater problem.

When you shoot a bullet upwards, it comes back down with almost same speed as when it was fired. When it comes back down, it’s still lethal and can kill the person who shot it or others. If it’s fired perfectly straight into the air, it will be limited to terminal velocity on the way down because it’s not traveling in an arc.

The odds of it hitting the person who fired it are probably a trillion to one.

I’d like to see how many shots were actually taken of the balloon before awarding the Darwin’s. Anyone experienced at all would know to not even waste the ammo.

You think all that free money passed out because of covid came from the tooth fairy? You think all those companies that government shut down were paying taxes?

You leftist went after citizens. All the leftist have is pointing to half the citizens and telling the mass’s these people are evil and must be destroyed. Your President even had a prime-time event to point to half the citizens and say these people are evil and must be destroyed.
America is worse because of the division and hate that the leftist are pushing. What the left has kept hidden for many years has finally come out in the open and most leftist are embracing the hate.

Not a good idea. Not as lethal as suggested either.

I agree with everything you said here….but let us not forget that the whole “well yeah but Trump had 3” thing is just another distraction being offered up by the kook fringe left.

The best they can dredge up is something that grazed Texas and Florida, maybe. This thing last week left January 21….passed by the slipped by the Aleutian Islands and Alaska entered Canada and then Idaho into Montana and crossed the entire country.

Again I ask re: trumps alleged 3 balloons that the defense department it is alleged kept to itself…

Who cares?

This thing last week showed Biden and company sent a signal to the world, to Taiwan, to any terrorist paying attention that this can be done in America’s sovereign airspace.

The highlighted part is what I care about. DOD is subordinate to the Commander in Chief. If the allegation is true, hiding info from him and his senior staff is a serious problem. Someone behind the curtain is making decisions in violation of the chain of command.

The same with Brandon’s claim that he ordered the balloon shot down days earlier. Either he is lying, or he actually did order it, and someone behind the curtain overruled it.

Little bit of cold shouldn’t prevent you from marking your territory.

Bolton made this point on CNN this morning. I agree - worht investigating this IMO.

Go back to FDR.

So…all this swagger against the Chi Coms. I assume conservatives here are for helping defend Taiwan from China. Strange that the swagger stops with that.

Does the US have a national security interest in Taiwan? Because it doesn’t in Ukraine.

I wouldn’t say in “investigation”.

But I support DOD and NSA releasing information about prior Spy Balloon incursions into US Airspace, to include:

  • Location,
  • Date,
  • Whether Senate Intelligence Committee members were briefed on the incursion including who specifically was briefed, and the date/time/location of the briefing.
  • Whether House Intelligence committee members were briefed on the incursion including who specifically was briefed, and the date/time/location of the briefing.
  • Whether administration members (including SecDef, SecSate, National Security Advisor, Vice-President, and President or members of their staff) were briefed on the incursion including who specifically was briefed, and the date/time/location of the briefing.

There is no need to have an investigation, the DOD can simply issue a statement on whether information from NORAD exists and who was briefed on it. Or issue a statement that no such incursions occurred in the past.

Easy peasy.

Well said…

If DOD knew, and didn’t inform the Commander in Chief, then someone under the covers made that call, and it’s hugely problematic and should be investigated.

And if DOD knew, briefed the Commander in Chief and they show when and where, then the Commander in Chief is a liar.
