Should read more than the headline.
For the majority of people on a diverse diet… vitamins just make expensive urine.

Keep in mind, I already took the first shot as has everyone I know so, I am definitely rooting for a good outcome.

I used to get a cold or flu every year. Have not since taking zinc every winter. I am fairly sure i had covid last February, everyone around me was super sick & I got it from them, the symptoms was the same for me, just not as severe & I think it was because I was taking zinc. The others around me who was sick thought they was about to die.

Zicam markets itself as a Homeopathic drug… which should be a huge warning sign.
The rel kicker is that they got sued because their nasal spray of shooting zinc up your nose caused people harm because unlike Homeopathic drugs they actually had an active ingredient and was not indeed homeopathic.
So it is a fraud of a fraud.

I never used the nasal, only the tablets. I switched to regular zinc because it was less expensive.
My doctor told me zinc does help with colds, & I believe covid is basically a cold type germ.

Ok that is valid, but I was responding to his vitamin thing.

Like I said, already had the first shot. Now I am second guessing myself a bit.

Taking zinc at the beginning of a cold does reduce the severity and duration of the disease. But those are generally rhinoviruses… I have heard of zinc as part of the regimen for Coronavirus… Flu not to sure about.
I will admit that I am getting a little out of my wheelhouse here.
But I have heard everything that zinc really helps to it reduces the cold from being a week long to only seven days long.

Just about every supplement & pharma company gets sued for something. Moderna did too. Are you going to refuse to get the Moderna because they have been sued?
Also, ZICAM was sued for the nasal one, not the others, & as you said, because it had other ingredients than zinc

Thought it was one day less, which is why I never bothered with it. Vitamin D though, I try to make sure I get enough of that. Pretty important one. Plus, I haven’t had a cold of the flu in like seven or eight years.

My point, & doctors are telling people to take it, also C & D3 to prevent covid or to help limit the severity if you get it.

Be sure to be careful with that also. Some out there like Gary Null advocate Vitamin D megadosing which can for real kill you.

Don’t know much about vitamin C… I get wary when people push Vitamin C megadosing because all of that came about when Linus Pauling made claims that were just not true… and because he was Linus Pauling everyone listened.

I have to admit some of his ideas are out there.
I don’t discount his ideas about vitamins & zinc helping fight corona, the doctors in the area here say it does help. My doctor told me it was a good idea.
Zinc is basically ZICAM.
I’m not trying to be overly argumentative about this, I just don’t trust it just because it’s being advocated. I credit Trump with the fact it’s in production, doesn’t mean I completely trust it & think it’s not open to critique.

That is fair enough… I have no problem with questioning things.
The sources used to find those answers should be vetted though.
That’s all.

I’m not into megadosing anything. I agree on that. I think our diet is not great in the US & supplements can help, especially since doctors are advocating specific ones for covid. Mercy, you can drink too much water.

Of course, questioning the questioner is ok as well.
I’m just sick of the idea of everything must be settled science. Science IS questioning.
Science that get’s mixed with politics is insane, & is NOT science, it’s just politics.

The thing is that generally it is the other way around.
Our diets are pretty great and for the majority of people taking supplements just makes expensive urine.
If there is a vitamin deficiency in Americans it is generally not because of food.
I will admit I have a little problem with the supplement industry.
