NYC already recieved the largest “Bail out” in history, so much that NYS and NYC have both been shipping out PPE and ventilators to other states.
The emergency hospitals built at great expense were never utilized and the Hospital ship was barely used at all.
Sorry, you people created your own mess, it’s up to you to fix it.
And replace them with law abiding gun owners and people who go to church.
Helluva strategy.
And visa versa.
Republicans protecting big businesses against lawsuits.
Both sides have agendas.
To pretend either side has clean hands is clearly wrong.
Politicians with agenda. Who knew.

He just extended the enhanced UE payments and increased them by 400.00/wk.
What businesses and what suits?

No…he didn’t.
It’s a mirage.
Which I can tell people understand because no one is debating the key points that make it a mirage.

It’s a negotiation strategy that has already been effective.
Dems can drop their pork wishlist and get serious or, start working as hard as they can to keep this money out of the hands of the unemployed.

The entertainer put on a show. As it’s always been, the show is the strategy.

“This money” would be picking their pockets to give it back to them. Some gift.
“This money” is coming out of aid money already allocated.
Hence the mirage.

No, the payroll tax will be forgiven. Or if Joe wins, he can collect it but I don’t think it will make him very popular.

No the payroll tax is not “being forgiven”…it’s being deferred. The president doesn’t have the authority to forgive payroll taxes which is why the EO was written the way it was (they looked into forgiveness…are still looking into whether they can twist some regulation to claim they have the power to do so…but the EO as written is a deferral).
The $400 is coming out of aid money already allocated…so it’s robbing Peter to pay Peter back.
The eviction moratorium is kicking the can down the road…landlords still won’t get paid- renters will still have crushing debt.
So- with something more than a sound byte- please explain how any of these actions are 'helping".

Through Congress. Democrats are of course free not to support it, should be popular.

Neither Democrats nor Republicans in Congress support abdicating their authority to the President so he can push symbolism over substance. As Ben Sasse said…Obama didn’t have the power to rewrite immigration law via EO…Trump does not have the power to rewrite tax law via EO.
And you are still wrong…the EO defers the payroll tax- it does not forgive it.
Nothing Trump did yesterday was of any substance.
Still waiting for someone to go beyond sound bytes and show it was.

It will be political suicide for politicians who vote against forgiving it. Whether they like how it was forced on them or not.

Right- Congress should surrender more authority to the President.
Never let a crisis go to waste, eh?
And you are STILL wrong that the EO forgave the payroll taxes. It did not.
So…we have a $400 enhanced unemployment “extension” that was less than what came before and comes out of funds already allocated and thus is robbing Peter to pay Peter back.
We have a payroll tax deferral that kicks the can down the road.
We have an eviction moratorium extension that does nothing to solve the actual problem that’s leading to the need for an eviction moratorium in the first place.
And we have Trump supporters once again applauding the President for doing absolutely nothing.
I suppose this is par for the course.

The UE Enhancement expired July 31,2020. Beginning August 1,2020, UEE from the central government was exactly $0 per week.
Thanks to President Trump and his EO, there is now UEE of $400 per week.
Democrats Pelosi and Schumer have reportedly already called for Congress to return to the table one day after news reports indicated no movement.
Thank you President Trump.

Of course the left is outraged, their pork list just went out the window because Trump outflanked them on public opinion, putting them in the position of either negotiating in good faith or be seen trying to keep people in need from getting help.
