COVID Relief and the Strategy

On a private call with GOP senators earlier in the day on Friday, Mnuchin and Meadows said they believed that the Democrats’ demands for nearly $1 trillion for state and local government had become the biggest sticking point over a deal, multiple sources told CNN.

Bail out state and city government mismanagement, including the NYC hospital system, which was in deep trouble long before Corona.

For instance, the officials said, Democrats were pushing for permanent student loan forgiveness as part of the deal.

Using an epidemic to push through Social Democrat agenda items. People are going to be evicted.

Gingrich is right about what Trump should do. Just like Reagan did with the Air Traffic Controllers. Don’t cave.

Have a press conference and lay it out. Tell the public what is really going on. Then do everything he can unilaterally. Go back to the public and lay out what he’s done and why he can’t do more.

This is dem extortion and all he has to do is shine a light on it. Letting Schumer and Pelosi tell the story is a mistake. They’re lying.

Americans don’t want their tax dollars used to bail out mismanaged and corrupt cities run by dem thieves. They don’t want to buy electric cars for Malibu and I doubt many will see defaulting on loans as “fair”.

He finds the $600 a week he’ll walk away with it. It won’t take a week or so and the dems will change their tone.

Be smart President Trump. Find a way to take care of the people.

The federal government is Mismanaged. That’s the baseline. It’s our money, so why does it matter?

Student loan relief is major for a lot of people. Why is this an issue?

Again why hold state governments to the same standard and the federal government… states can’t print money.

From the OP’s article.

“They also argued Democrats have not moved off their positions or proposed things that the GOP could accept. For instance, the officials said, Democrats were pushing for permanent student loan forgiveness as part of the deal”

This would be a massive win for democrats, which is one of the reasons why Cons are resisting.

Sure Trump should play tough and not give in. A total of 32 percent of American households could not pay their housing costs in July. I am sure they will understand that government cannot afford any more social nets all the while keeping the tax cuts for the rich. Great plan.

And Nancy said they would not budge on unemployment insurance and that Republicans kept saying they couldn’t increase any thing other then the 1t they already agreed to.

So basicly, both sides blame the other.

Pssh. People are well known for caring about things like municipal management as they’re evicted from their homes and can’t afford food.

There is resentment built up from those still working and scratching by and those needing the $600 to make it.

They know that the riots, etc. are caused by the same people and places demanding such things as “free college”. They aren’t going to look favorably on forgiving debt for the very people causing the problems.

All the President has to do is show the public who is holding it up and why. Despite media claims to the contrary, most people don’t believe in that bull. Then he does as much as he possibly can to help.

That’s nice…maybe…but it has nothing to do with COVID-19. Propose it in another bill. Remember when Democrats used to claim they always wanted a “clean” bill?

If it wouldn’t hurt so many people I would pray they Republicans run with this plan.

Because this is about matters relating to a pandemic. The only way student loan debt is relevant here is in deferring payments until the crisis is over. Sometimes stuff is about other things, as my favorite socialist once wrote.

I know right? Newt Gingrich hasn’t had a good political idea since like 1996.

Why would Trump have anything to do with what Congress hashes out? Trump doesn’t control how Congress allocates money, last I checked.

"Congress can make a deal because dems want to bail out NYC and Malibu and rebuild Minneapolis. I’m doing this because it’s what I can do. I’ll keep looking for more while they sit their and squabble for stuff that has nothing to do with what you’re going through.

EO # 1 - I am demanding no eviction orders for every state and city in the country."

Congress can’t dole out anything if the President veto’s the bill, unless they can override the veto.

Everything being said here was said when Reagan stood up to the ATC. “You can’t do that!” He did.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Nothing for any of those cities that encouraged rioters to damage the place. They basically wanted the Feds to stay out when it came to restoring order. The Feds (us) need to stay out of paying for the damage.
And what does that have to do with COVID-19 anyway?

If Trump doesn’t sign a bill extending the unemployment benefits he may as well just stop campaigning now and ride out his certain defeat. It will be like 1932 for the Democrats.

Has he said that he wont? Pelosi needs to send him a “clean” bill.
If she doesn’t, its on the Democrats.

Good OP.

Libs are trying to use this crises to bail themselves out of crises instead of bailing out American people.

Why should American people pay for left-wing indoctrination…use libs own money.
