So where are we at as a country in preparing for the next Covid or virus which more than likely was a lab leak from China? What will be done differently if anything?
Because looking at the damage Covid has done to the world economy which as we can see, we’re still nowhere near out of. What happens when the next one comes? Will anything be different? Will there be a containment? Or will we do the same dumb stuff we did the first time.
It’s really not a matter of if it’s when it will happen. As science has progressed people can buy virus kits for $20,000 or less that they can make their own viruses - gain of function from home. It’s not a far fetched theory to think that there’s not already terror organizations trying to make create a new bio terror weapon right now.
I Personally, don’t think the country or the world can take another one, and the damage done by Covid might be irreversible. Housing in itself could very well just be a thing for the top 20%. Btw that’s how it works in 2nd world countries the vast majority of people rent and usually need roommates to make it owning their own place is just a dream for them.
So not trying to get political because this affects the whole country, not just the Democrats or the Republicans, but all Americans. Let’s say another Covid dropped in a year. Would anything be different in the way we would react? Maybe they have made plans they never talk about, but I’ve never heard any.
The government will collapse. It won’t have the power to make people take vaccines or behave civilly.
My thoughts are for me to own everything I have free and clear of liens and loans. At least then if we go mad-max, and our only income is whatever we can barter or grow or hunt, I won’t have creditors trying to take things from me. I’ll just have to concern myself with marauding bands of looters.
I believe that the government will provide the necessary vaccines. And I think that most folks will take it. There were a lot of stories of folks going onto venaltors who realized that they had made a mistake due to politics.
That’s what I’m scared of. I was hoping we’d be practicing quarantine drills if that lands in Seattle for instance quarantine it up like they do in the movies. Even before the vaccines came out a lot of people died and we did learn a lot of things.
The elderly needs protected. This particular virus was not bad on children overall. You can’t shut down the economy without serious repercussions that last years were still in it.
It’s just terrifying. They sell these crispr kits DNA sequencing. It wouldn’t take much for somebody with some knowledge to cook up an Ebola type virus. It’s definitely possible with the tech now that anyone can buy. So we have to assume they are out there.
I wonder if the country would let quarantine happen but it would only need to be for protected groups. Everybody else has to keep working no way we economically survive another Covid this one has likely ■■■■■■ the U.S. for decades maybe permanently.
How would the govt provide vaccines for custom created bio weapons? Especially if they do not have access to the source virus or source code of the virus. One would have to have their head up their ass if one doesn’t think state sponsored terror groups are not trying to develope the next “covid” and an effective distribution system.
I think it all depends on where/how the next pandemic spreads. My opinion has been, the coastal states and cities were far more tolerant of lock downs and mask mandates and what not simply because the pandemic hit them first and hardest.
I knew like 10 people dead from covid within the first 4 months of the pandemic.
Flyover countries experienced the pandemic differently. The country went into lock down, slowing the spread into the interior of the country, so it just was completely different.
I don’t know…but if the next one comes under this HHS sec…oh boy…
This isn’t government. Whomever makes the vaccines first get super duper rich…
All that govt. did last time was pay them up front for the R&D, which was super smart. BUt over all it was private industry that pulled us out of the pandemic with the vaccine.
That’s actually a good example so the plague really messed up Europe, but didn’t do much to America since it hadn’t been discovered so they were safe from globalization. Is it possible for America to dodge the next Covid type illness? Will we be ready for that. Have we even tried to prepare
