Court Upholds Bakery’s $32 Million Victory against Oberlin College over False Racism Accusations

Looks like this ruling might already have positive results. The local NAACP has been calling for a boycott and a rally in front of this business for days now. All of the sudden they apologize.

OMG, you were just reading my mind. I was going to post that.

“My bad”

Apparently, they don’t have the huge coffers that Oberlin has and can’t afford a big lawsuit.

They will simply file bankruptcy, get the award reduced in bankruptcy court, and life will go on.

I wish it wasn’t like this, but unfortunately that’s how it works.

Of course, that’s how it works. An institution of “higher learning” filing bankruptcy? That should go over big with tenured faculty, staff, employees and prospective incoming freshmen. Or is it “fresh persons”?

I think the correct term is ‘Fresh Prince’ and ‘Fresh Princess’.

Get woke…go broke…to the tune of $32 million. :+1:

Probably so, and

  • the bankruptcy court will require a tuition increase of up to $1,000 a year.
  • Student aid form the taxpayer to the students will cover the bill.
  • Donors will give less money for a while.

The college really could close. Hundreds of small colleges have closed in recent decades. It doesn’t mean students don’t get degrees they just get them from bigger universities.
