Contrary to what you may believe and I’m taking a little but of liberty here myself based on your history of posts. The extremes of a party don’t represent it’s base. In the democrat sense for example Hillary wasn’t an extreme in the most recent example, Bernie was. Trump was with Cruz a close second. HIllary was a bad candidate that much is established but the only alternative was a much further left person in bernie, so Hillary was chosen. In the GOP Trump represented the most furthest right in terms of rhetoric offered and they chose him, eve if his demonstrated pattern didn’t play that out, it is about here and now.

He won based on rhetoric alone, and a promise of results. That isn’t atypical. People tend to vote and revote on what they think a person can get done not on what they have. I suspect a lot of people will revote for Trump based on promises rather than results. And they will do so based on excuses baked up. For example those voting for Trump in 2020 will most likely do so based on the false premise than anything he didn’t do was because of opposition, regardless of the reason why.

Because she has been around for 28 years. See thats how senority works in the House of Representatives. Not too hard to get reelected 13 times in one of the most liberal districts of the most liberal state.

And news flash, just being a ranking member doesn’t mean you represent the party for example, Donald Trump had no senority or ranking in the GOP and still ended up the nominee. Roy Moore is a member of the GOP, does he represent the party as a whole? How about Joe Arpaio? Point being, just being a member of a party doesn’t mean you represent it’s entirety or in the case of extremists like Waters, even a significant portion of them.

You could say she represents ~700,000 people which is the population of the district that she serves, and that is generously assuming 100% of the people of that district are in the democrat party. Going by the last house race there about 75% of the district is, so bottom line is the best assertion that you could make is she represents 525,000 people of the democrat party, but most certainly not THE Democrat party.
