Incoming Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raised eyebrows throughout the nation’s capital over the weekend; directly comparing the ‘migrant caravan’ with “Jewish families fleeing Germany” during World War II.

Cortez posted her surprising statement on social media Sunday just hours after dozens of immigrants rushed the US-Mexico border, writing “Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime. It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany. It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda. It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria. And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America.”

President Trump doubled-down on his administration’s fierce response to those seeking to enter the US illegally Monday morning; saying he was prepared to “permanently” close the border should the crisis continue.
