Coronavirus Thread Political

You are trying to ague both sides of the same coin.
You are saying the mortality rate is lower than reported because many people wont get tested.
Then you are saying that the rate in Washington is exceedingly high because a nursing home was affected.
That is why averages are reported. Which is what the WHO has done.

Please. The first people to contract this in their community, who haven’t traveled abroad, who aren’t medical professionals fighting it, weren’t in a high risk group until they got it. This isn’t a colonoscopy, for Pete’s sake.

Here’s an interesting breakdown of the swing flu epidemic in 2009. If I’m reading this correctly, according to the CDC only 1000 test kits were shipped from May 1 2009 through September 1 2009? Am i missing something here?

ā€œ September 1

  • More than 1,000 test kits shipped to 120 domestic and 250 international laboratories in 140 countries since May 1, 2009.ā€

And this is why CNN can’t be taken seriously.

What an ignorant thing to bring up.

I’m actually starting to feel bad for you and how out of the loop you are on this current event. The situation is changing rapidly. And you’re resting your beliefs on outdated information.

The facts of the case are that the production of test kits were an unmitigated disaster for a number of reasons. And that has resulted in virtually every single portion of the manufacturing chain, from the Coronavirus Team led by Pence, to the front line medical professionals agreeing that the Trump administration failed to account for the move of the virus out of containment, which would then require several magnitudes more of tests being available at this stage of the outbreak in the States.

Several GOP Senators are in agreement. Several members of the administration are confirming this reality. Virtually ALL medical professionals on the front lines of this outbreak across multiple states are in agreement.

Only Rose and apparently Trump, KellyAnne, and Larry Kudlow are still pretending to be in denial and spinning like a top. Acting as if this was the very best the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA could possibly do. This was our peak performance and there was nothing more than could have been accomplished in regards to speed of market with test kits.

You are desperately trying to debate reality. I’m sorry but we are under no obligation to engage your fantasy scenarios just because your favorite politician is the one who is leading the team that punted it into the bleachers.

@WildRose

This can’t be true can it?

And the WHO just updated their overall rate to between .01 and 1%.

Anytime a specific cloistered population of people particularly vulnerable are exposed the rate will be skewed dramatically.

Link?

Did I see somewhere that it’s Pence fault for CDC failures?

Pence didn’t get involved until Feb 28th

So just little over a week with Pence guidance they’re finally getting em out. What happen during entire month of February?

My hope is that it will go down even more after more and more people are tested here in the US and abroad. Of course the only way that would happen is if more people tests positive and deaths don’t skyrocket. China’s rate of infected and dying is starting to level out, so there’s that.

Seems like Pence is getting the job done.

Ask GW, he just posted it.

@GWH Is there a link to this?

Did you also notice that it’s those evil private/corporate labs stepping up that has resulted in over 900,000 tests already produced and sent to the labs and hospitals?

Those private mfg’s have now scaled up and expect another four to five million ready for shipment by this time next week.

You understand that the lower you report this number to be, the more people that are out there and have contracted this disease?

Another interesting article concerning death rate. North Korea’s rate went down after their surge in testing.

Dayum! I regret that I have but one like to give for this post.

Yes…those damn capitalist. How dare they.

That’s been the case in every epidemic or pandemic and always will be.

How exactly were Pence and his ā€œteamā€ responsible when they were only appointed a week ago?

The epidemiologists at NIH and CDC are career professionals, not political appointees some of who have worked at those organizations for a decade or more.

Those are the people who developed the protocols, plans, and provided the data and recommendations to their agency and department heads.

I’m sure all of you mud slingers are much more qualified to tell us about it but personally I’m going to rely on the best info I can get from the experts.
