Trump’s approval rating for the issue is almost unchanged from his prior total approval as before, with a total approval of 45%, including about 90% of Republicans and almost no Democrats.

It figures. How do you rate a President for handling a worldwide situation this unique with little to compare? You read into it what your beliefs from before were.

That is not correct. I work in the security industry and have knowledge of the specific cameras that are in several international airports and they do not have thermal cameras that scan for fevers.

He may be on the ground but he provided absolutely no evidence for his opinion of the effect of what some “right-wing pundits” are supposed to be saying. People don’t go into an ER and say they don’t want to be checked because of what they heard on the Radio.

Things are going to get much worse very quickly. We are about to see large increases in unemployment. Small businesses are going to have a difficult next couple of months. On top of that, we may actually have a large increase in the number of tests.

These poll numbers will be changing over the next 2 months.

Ok, I’m missing something here.
Coronavirus is supposed to be easier to catch than the flu. This is why it is going to overcome hospitals and ERs.
Wuhan province has a population of 58,000,000. China has a population of 1,400,000,000
As of March 12, all of China had 86,000 cases recorded of this virus.
It is now suspected to have started in November in Wuhan province.

How is that spreading faster than the common cold?

I’m not saying it isn’t, I just don’t understand how it is.

Well, to anwer my own question, this is obviously a projection from the sort of data found on this page.
We shall see if it continues as feared. It looks like Italy will be the first big test case with real data.

I’m wondering how much of the apparent increase is due to new cases and how much is due to increased testing. We shall know before too long.

And what’s with the drop off in new cases with China?

China instituted quarantine measures faster. You go to the supermarket, you get a temperature check; an office building, you get a temperature check. If you have a temperature, you get a test, which they’ve gotten down to two hours. If you test positive, you’re taken to a fever clinic, where you’re isolated. They also have mobile cat scan vans where they will then check your lungs.

These are the types of things the US needs to do, e.g, mass mobilization and deployment of resources. Walmart isn’t going fix this; CVS isn’t going to fix this. It will take the full force of the government deploying its resources.

Nobody is taking this seriously, I have Facebook “friends” in the US who think what’s happening in Italy is a joke or can’t happen in the US . I told them to get back to me in 5-7 days. Seriously, there is a level of delusional arrogance and denial of reality in certain segments of the US population that is truly disturbing.

“The curve” is real. Unless you’re advocating forcibly quarantine everyone, those don’t work either. The infection is out there, there is no “stopping” the curve, only taking steps to mitigate severity.
