I posted this in the non political thread. But I’ll do it again. I don’t like sharing my friend’s personal tweet, but it’s good to hear things first hand. She’s a medical worker:

“It’s been awful. I am so immunosupressed right now I’m the highest person at risk in our dept and I was exposed twice on Thursday. I’ve had a bad headache since yesterday but I can’t get a test until I display one more symptom. So I’m like a sitting duck. It sucks. They’re cancelling elective cases. We don’t have the man power and ICU beds for everyone. We’re gonna start running out of supplies cos they’re all made in China. And it’s gonna get worse before it gets better. Please keep yourself safe, this is bad. I’m seeing it on the front lines and I don’t wish it on anyone”

So, I don’t agree with your interpretation of how things are going.

I already know it didn’t help.

The virus was introduced into the US by several chains not emanating from China…as well as from China.

He locked the door after the thieves had already broken in via the open windows.

We’re tracking just like Italy still just a few days later than Italy. An eight-fold increase in cases in just a week.

No way to know yet.

And of course local and state entities have taken steps Italy didn’t take…none of which took their cues from Trump, who basically said this was nothing to worry about.

But that won’t stop you from simultaneously claiming Trump handled the crisis awesomely and that there was no crisis.

Welcome back (to black).

If by blindsided you mean 3 months lead time? Then sure…i agree. But that’s not the definition of blindsided is it?

Where have you been?

Trump realizes shaking hands may spread virus. Declares not shaking hands “is a good thing”!!!
What a “Super-Genius” this guy is!!!
:elephant::us:

My BIL has been diagnosed with Human Metapneumonia. It’s a virus that can cause serious pneumonia in people. In adults it’s usually nothing more that a cold…but one risk factor is asthma. They have been doing a remodel at their house. Lots of dust and they have 3 cats and two dogs. Which could contribute. Their bathroom also doubles as the litter box area for the cats. They haven’t ruled out Covid19. But the identified this with a respiratory panel. So maybe not horrible news.

Coronavirus press conference meeting room…12:35pm.
POTUS leaves the podium and everybody chuckles. :flushed::flushed:
“What the heck” was that about??

 who told you that?

Now that’s probably true.

Is that going to be the new libbish now? “Flatten the curve”?

I don’t care for it, I like curves.

Left-wing media.

I agree. There’s only one way to truly handle this… The Texas Way.

  1. I meant to say disagree. 2. If you don’t get the idea behind flattening the curve, I can’t help you.
  1. Ok.
  2. I don’t need help.
  3. I don’t like cutesy govcrispeak. Especially not generated by the media.

It’s actually sound epidemiologic concepts not government speak.

I don’t have a real problem with the concept, although protecting hospitals doesn’t do much for the emotions of victims.

It is govcrispeak.

It’s not protection of hospitals…its keeping the number of people at any given time under the capacity of the medical system. It may lengthen the time, but it keeps hospitals under capacity for the duration. Social isolation is supposed to keep the speed and amount of the spread down. So there isn’t a spike for two weeks to a month where the system is taxed.

It is protection of hospitals and then you agreed. System if you like. I already said I don’t have a problem with the concept, what do you want?
