That’s a pretty small number. By contrast, upwards of 5 million people get sick from the flu every year … it kills as many as 646,000 people every year.

Less people will have died on 9-11 than from coronavirus and we stsrted a war over it.

And yes, 100,000’s die from the flu every year. It doesn’t mean we should minimize the danger of an ADDITIONAL 100,000s of potential deaths.

For things like raw materials and critical medications, that’s not a bad idea, given the frailty of the global supply chain.

Neoliberalism and globalization are collapsing, add this pandemic to kicking an already dead horse.

China built three state of the art hospitals to treat COVID19 through simply deploying a massive amount of resources. That’s called getting ■■■■ done, not arguing over abstractions like markets, lol. The West is in utter paralysis, as a society, over insipid human constructs like “free markets”.

How are you going to rapidly produce a hundred million or more tests? How will you process and read them?

We’re not S. Korea, we have about six times their population.

Even limiting testing to people in the highest risk groups with a population our size is going to take weeks.
