So Trump just said on his Fox town hall that the mortailty rate for the 1918 Influenza was 50%. Most estimates put it around 2.5%. This is why I don’t trust Trump to make a data-driven decision.

Thanks JimmyC for bringing this up. The raw data shows in round #'s that 500 million contracted Spanish Flu. The world population in 1918 was about 1.8 billion. That’s 27%. However, no where close to the 148 countries with coronavirus today had widespread cases reported back then.

Curious that China in 1918-1919 did not report a high # of deaths from this former H1N1 virus. In fact, there are some experts who believed China was also the origin of patient zero in 1918.
That theory is further supported as a possibility since Chinese soldiers coming to Europe during WWI might of been less affected built up a strong immunity against the infectious disease previously residing near the source.

Fact checkers will most certainly verify the POTUS claim here. Doing a back-of-the-envelope calculation: if you exclude China plus other countries around the world left unscathed in a major way, that would leave about 1 Billion of people infected. Might very well be 500 million cases of a 1 billion pool being the logic of what President Trump was referencing today.

You claimed Ebola was never a big deal from the start because of how it spreads, you said because how it spreads it could never become an epidemic in the United States period.

You of course continue fabricating. First layers of bureaucracy removed with the initial emergency declaration which of course she put out before the experts were urging him to.

He Then followed every recommendation coming from the quote quote experts. He then before even being suggested by the quote quote experts declared a National Emergency removing the other layers of bureaucracy to expedite getting the private sector involved this then allowed FDA and CDC to get millions upon Millions upon millions of test kits manufactured quickly and the FDA was then able to give emergency certification to the state and hospital and University labs to process them.

Of course you the now self-professed expert were not calling for the president to take any of those Majors before they were taken. All you’ve done from the start is criticized and complain you have yet to offer an actual idea of your own that would have helped anything.

Obviously Trump closed travel from China under recommendation from experts, he didn’t just dream it up himself. You think they recommended that and didn’t know it was serious?
And the WHO was on the ground over there. If any group should have had more information it was them. They didn’t even see it as a world health emergency till the end of January. Where is your criticism of them? They are the ones who didnt believe in travel bans, remember?
Fine…blame the experts for not coming up with sufficient test sets fast. That will help. Its like yelling at the plumber for not working harder and better.

Heck there were millions of jobs sitting unfilled just what 6 or 7 weeks ago? How do you propose to manufacture everything we as Americans consume based mostly on what can be produced here? And further more there are a lot of costs associated with this.

Throw out some ideas and lets discuss it.

We could open up immigration… there are bound to be many factory workers from Bangladesh, Mexico and Vietnam who would be delighted to work for US wages.
