I’m commenting on the fact that conservatives can’t stand the fact that they are being asked to sacrifice for the greater good. They are marching with their trump signs because they no longer want to be inconvenienced.

Now I see.

We have more like 50-60 million per year, a hospitalization rate of 1%.

Now if some of the more recent figures are true, COVID would have a hospitalization rate of only 1.4%…just a little higher than flu…but that would be an additional 240,000 hospitalized than are hospitalized by flu…and all these cases would be in addition to flu hospitalizations (wouldn’t be a true 600k + 840k because I would presume some people who normally would get the flu would get COVID instead) but it’s ADDITIONAL hospitalizations nonetheless.

AND…the stay in the hospital for flu has a median of 5 days. For COVID, that median is 12 days. More hospital bed days for COVID than for flu.

What do you mean by exposure and how do you measure it? I’m not familiar. If epidemioligists recommend that as satisfactory criteria, sure. Right now their recommendations that the President and virtually every other state are using -

Downward trajectory of positive tests as a percent of total tests within a 14-day period (flat or increasing volume of tests)

The interesting thing is the stereotypes that were busted by this. Turns out coastal elite liberals are surprisingly okay without their avocado toast and organic fair trade cafe con leches. Turns out conservatives, after ten years of bragging how they can fight a civil war and/or survive the apocalypse, can’t deal with less than a month of mild inconvenience and a fat unemployment check to sit on their ass at home.

Anti-vaxxers, MLM “make money from home!” types and essential oil mommy group ladies have also shut the ■■■■ up real quick.

Then one of the sitting members on that task force goes on radio and encourages protests to get states to speedily open up.

Federal officials explicitly interfering in state affairs.
